Package not delivered due to "No secure location"

First time posting on this board.

I sold an item, got paid for it by PP, shipped it the next day by USPS Flat Rate. Acourding to USPS Tracking it was attempted to delievered but instead a notice was left stating "No secure location available". The notice stated to arainge delivery before 2/19 or the item will be sent back on 2/20. Well today is Sunday 2/18 and tomorrow 2/19 is a holiday so no USPS service. Seems the package will be sent back to me on 2/20.

What am I suppose to do? I mean this was a $12 item with $13 for shipping.

Contact the buyer and ask them to explain why the Post Office has done  this. I'm guessing the buyer is in an apartment in a neighborhood where you need automatic weapons.

The Post Office can be counted on to take the path of very least effort on their part. The mail jockey should have left a Package Being Held at Post Office Form in the buyers mail box.

Tell them to go to the Post Office and pick up the package or arrange to  deliver it when they are there to accept it.  Make it clear it's not your responsibility to intercede and they are at risk.

Further, you might ask customer service to guide you. eBay makes sellers responsible for the actions of the Post Office which is a cop out.  This clearly a buyers problem.

Package not delivered due to "No secure location"

I did email the buyer through eBay this message on 2/12/18:

"Just wanted to let you know that USPS attempted delivery of the Girl Scout books. From the tracking info on the USPS website:Tracking Number: 950551211421803xxxxxx
""This is a reminder to arrange for redelivery of your item before February 19, 2018 or your item will be returned on February 20, 2018. You may arrange redelivery by using the Schedule a Redelivery feature on this page or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice.""
Thanks, at2181"

Is there anything else I should do?

The post office will generally attempt redelivery two more times in the next two weeks before returning it.

Package not delivered due to "No secure location"

When I've purchased things in the past, as a Buyer, and I read an update regarding the item I've purchased stating, " No secure location available. " It means that my mailbox was full at the time or the postal mail carrier didn't bother delivering it that particular day. It's happened a number of times.
I bet tomorrow they will receive it. In the meantime, I know it's troubling, but things will work out.

Don't worry so much.

It could be a number of things. The buyer could have a Hold For Pick-up order. It could have been pouring rain and the buyers house didn't have a good place to leave it, or a number of other scenarios.

If you don't see a delivery scan in a week then message the buyer.

Well the attempted delievery was on 2/5 and I sent an email to the buyer on 2/12. If USPS says on thier tracking data that they will send the package back on 2/20 I supose I can expect the package will show up at my house on 2/24.

You could call their PO in the morning. Our office calms down around 8-8:30, after that the carriers will be leaving. They can't give you any personal info on the buyer but they should say if the package is still there and if it will be sent back to you.

why?  i was employed by the usps many years ago, i seen first hand the lazy employees.

there are a few that did work though.

then there were the few that should not even be employed there, but the union protects them.

I have been with USPS since 2000. To date I have seen 2 lazy employees (3 if you count the one who quit after 3 days training). NEITHER were saved by the union and were out of a job very quickly.

the ones the union did not protect were probably still on their 90 day probation.
