I've ordered an item on December 20th and it is December 31st right now. The tracking for the package does not show any information whatsoever. It says "Status Not Available. The tracking number may be incorrect or the status update is not yet available. Please verify your tracking number and try again later."

The package was shipped on the 21st and I'm concerned if this is scanning error or the seller never shipped the item. I typed in the tracking number multiple times and even copy & pasted the number.

What was the estimated delivery date? If it is past that, you can file for an item not received..you have thirty days past that date if you want to wait awhile.

The parcel could already be in the possession of USPS but has not been scanned. It could be in transit to its destination but has not been scanned.

Or, seller has printed the label but package has not been dropped off to post office yet.

It is STRONGLY suggested that you don't buy from China.

Many are scams.

^^ OP, this is why you are not getting tracking information .... you are making purchases from China, and tracking may be erratically communicated or never communicated as you wait 4-6 weeks for the product to be delivered ... sometimes they never arrive.

In addition to the scam risk that daveroo pointed out, because these products are not regulated (there's no "middle company" in the US with their reputation on the line to inspect them on your behalf), you are also risking things like counterfeits, toxic materials/lead, poor quality, product substitutions, etc. ... but, you got a great price, right?

Not all sellers from China are bad, but I'm seeing feedback ratings of sellers to you that are 98.7%, 98.4% .... on eBay, those are basically "D" or "F" ratings for a seller. I recommend that you always check the feedback that a seller has received to help you in your purchase decisions from China.

File an INR. Unless the item is coming from China and ebay already told you that you weren't getting it until 2020. Better to skip ebay and proceed directly to PayPal. File an INR there.
