Buyer opened a case against me for a return that I was attempting to work with the buyer on but due to the delayed responses by the buyer a case was opened. Buyer is claiming item not as claimed. Before the the buyer filed a return request with eBay the buyer shipped the item out of the country to an alternate address that was not originally specified. At this point since the buyer reshipped the item prior to requesting the refund I feel I should not be held accountable for anything that may have happened to the item. Thoughts?

I don't think you are responsible. They need to send the item back to you for refund, they no longer have the item.

Unfortunatley the issue is complicated by the fact that the item was damaged in the reshipping process. I do not want to accept the refund because the item is now valueless in the damaged state. I did not approve the reshipping so my argument is that I am not liable.

You have to call customer service and have fhem close the return in your favor. The buyer lost their protection when they had the item forwarded.
