Hi Everyone. I have a question since I can't seem to get a hold of my post office. Maybe someone can answer this for me. So I have a couple of stacks of multiple priority mail boxes that got water damage due to flooding that occurred on my balcony closet awhile back ago. The boxes are now dry but due to water damage are unusable now....
The apartment complex I live in has a big recycling dumpster used for recycling. Are there any laws against putting un-used priority mail boxes in recycling dumpsters? I don't want to just throw them away, but I guess I could.... But I prefer to recycle as long as that's okay.... Thanks!
Has anyone else done this before? Thanks!!!

You can recycle them.
You just can't use them for anything other than their intended purpose.

They are trash. They go into the recycling bin. They get chopped up and mixed with water to create paper pulp that is then turned into other paper products.
USPS's agreement prevents you from using them for other purposes such moving, crafts, et cetra.
You are not using them for any purpose. You are disposing of them as they are not longer unusable for their intended purpose. They are trash.
If your house burns down are you then required to sift out the ashes of the unused Priority Mail boxes to make sure they don't go into the trash?

Water soaked corrugated cardboard boxes looses strength. Put them in the dumpster.
No you won't go to jail for doing that.
