I think this is an odd one. About 3 weeks ago I purchased a Halloween item. I paid for it immediately by PayPal, but the seller did not accept my payment. I emailed a few times, but no response. I therefore cancelled my payment. I heard nothing further at that time. Today, I received an email from the seller that simply said “Don’t worry” and included a tracking number. I then received an email from eBay saying my item was being shipped and supplying the same tracking number. I checked my purchase history and it still shows that my payment was cancelled. As I cannot believe the seller is sending this to me for free (it is a $100 item), is this a scam? I no longer want the item and so what do I need to do if it actually arrives? I don’t want to somehow commit myself by receiving the box. Thanks.

You can always mark it RTS and send it back with your mail carrier. Your honesty is admirable. Good luck!

Give it back to the mail carrier, marked Return to Sender. You will not be charged and they won't have to pay for return shipping.

It is a big box and I don’t want to have to go to the trouble of bringing it back to the post office. I shouldn’t be put to the trouble. Any other ideas?

You don't have to take it to the Post Office. Mark it and leave it in your 'outgoing'... your carrier will take it back.

Yes, contact whichever carrier it is, and stop the delivery before it comes out to you.
