I have a buyer wanting to return a shirt that was sold new with tags. The stated reason is that it is too small. They have removed all of the tags. So the shirt can no longer be sold as new. What is my recourse here? Just accept the sale and just bite the bullet and refund. Or is there something I can do since it is no longer new?

@ymcamom Looking at your listings you accept returns but buyer pays shipping. Per policy if you accept returns than you cannot refuse this return. You can accept the return, offer a partial refund, or fully refund without returning. The part that does work on your side is they removed the tags, so that means they altered the item.

You can try to use that against the buyer if they are being reasonable. You can only withhold an amount when you offer free returns which you don't, so you can either offer a partial refund if you don't want the shirt back, or wait until you receive it then refund. If buyer becomes upset and asks eBay to get involved they will win because buyer always wins a dispute. Your best bet is to make a deal with the buyer without upsetting them and before eBay has to get involved. You can still sell a shirt as New without tags. Best of luck to you....

That's eBay's stand.  But first, ask the buyer if they have tags.  They  can easily be reattached.

And who removes tags before you try someting on??  I might even think of a charge for returning it other than how it was.

Maybe you could tell them you cannot accept the return without all the tags.
