Item: "Delivery was attempted" , not recived and no return.

   Hello, 

 

   On the 5th of January I made a purchase for an item. After I made the payment and finished everything I realized that my door number was missing. I immediately contacted the seller about this problem. But the seller said there was nothing he could do to change the address. 

 

   It is the second time that I make a purchase on eBay and my order goes without a door number. I don't know how it happened twice, but it did. The first time, I had no problem with it. The shipping company contacted me and asked for the correct address. (It was a private company and the item came from Spain to Portugal). So, this time, I had faith that everything would be fine. Little I knew the problem that was to come.

Following the package with the tracking number, ("ES10012605501130001010001A0N")  I was able to see that the item "Arrived in country" on January 27th. I thought it would be close to the item reaching my home, but I was wrong. After about two weeks my order had not yet arrived and there was still no movement or any updates on the website. It was then that I decided to look for something, something to understand what was happening. After hundreds of attempts to contact my local shipping company (CTT, its not the same company that I mentioned before) and the international shipping company (SpeedPak and Orange Connex, these ones never answered me) my only solution was the seller and he gave me the tracking number from CTT. My order was stopped by customs and I had to pay a fee to clear the item !

Well, this is when the story really gets boring to me.

Apparently, on February 23rd at 8:15AM my order was in distribution. I confirmed that early in the morning so I just waited for the item to arrive that day. However, the day passed and nothing came. Throughout the day I tried several times to visit their website (CTT). It wasn't possible, their website was down all day. (Other people on Twitter said the same). It was only the next day that I was able to confirm the status of my order: "Not Delivered, Incorrect or insufficient address". Of course... Thats, indeed, expected.

However, I know the postman who works in my area and he knows where I live. So, even without a door number, im sure he was going to be able to deliver my order. I waited 3 days. As I had no answer, I decided to move to the nearest post office, where I tought my order was supposed to be. There, I was told that all international orders, when they are not delivered, on that exact same day, they are returned to the sender (Seller). To confirm that, I called CTT (same people) and they gave me the same answer and said that there was nothing to be done considering that my order was being returned....

What now? I had 2 months of waiting, I paid more than I expected, I lost a bunch of time trying to contact everyone..., For what? - Yes, for what ?! Everyone would freak out by that....

For the reasons I already mentioned I was sure that no one had tried to deliver my order. In fact, a few days later, I asked the postman directly and he said that nothing had come to him in my name.

Obviously, unsatisfied, I contacted the seller and told him what was happening. It was then that the seller said to me: "This return is false. Because speedpak does not support return. It will only be destroyed locally." I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is, if the order is not going to return, what does that mean? Even if the seller sends it again, won't I have to pay customs fees again? I am not willing to wait another 2 months and pay another 40 euros for a 100 euros order. 

At this moment, I just want to solve all this and get my money back as quick as possible.

However, the deadline for delivery is March 29 (That’s another thing I can’t understand, why the estimated date is March 29 when the order was bought on Jan 5th) that's why im opening this case here. Do I have to wait another month for something I already know the answer to?

 

  I'm not trying to blame anyone for this situation. The seller was super nice to me and the people that I called from CTT were all nice to me too. Actually, If I had to blame someone, I would only blame myself. 

I dont know if this is the correct place to solve my problem. If not, im sorry. This solution I found.

 

How can I solve this problem ?

Sorry, but you are to blame for not double checking your address before you ordered.

 This is all on you.  YOu did not confirm your address BEFORE you sent paymant.  The buyer is NOT allowed to change the shipping address once the payment is processed.  If he had not shipped it yet he could have refunded and relisted for you to input the correct address.

 

E bay will close your case in favor of the seller since he sent the shipment to the address you provided.  PayPal will do the same if that is how you paid for it.  If you do a charge back on your credit card mire then likely they will do the same as this is your fault.

"If he had not shipped it yet he could have refunded and relisted for you to input the correct address."   Was that even possible ? No one told me that or even showed me that solution when I asked for changing adress. I tought "there is nothing I can do now, I just have to accept how it is". 

When I Bought the item the seller told me it was out of stock. It took me like 2 days before the item was actually shipped. All my messages, from "is it possible to change the adress?"  or "yes i accept this kit insted" were all before that.

Sorry, but I realized that the door number was missing IMMEDIATELY after making the purchase. I contacted the seller IMMEDIATELY after that. Same day I bought, same day I exposed the problem to the seller.

Basically, I bought something that was out of stock, I don't know if this is Normal or not  to happen but, what the seller supposedly sent was something different, it was another similar kit. That's why it took two days for my order to be shipped or processed.

The ONLY THING he told me was that he couldn't change the address. Based on what he said and "did not say", I concluded that there was nothing to do from that moment on. Of course if I knew that it was possible to "refund or relist" at that moment I would have done that! In my head, I thought of just waiting for the package to arrive in my city. If it was not possible to deliver the parcel I would have just gone to the local post office and picked it up myself. 

How was I supposed to know that they weren't even going to try to deliver my order and return it the same day? How would I know that the international company does not accept returns?

I understand that it may be something obvious for someone who works with this everyday. But for someone who has no knowledge it is not so simple.
