I recently sold 8 items to a person in R.I. but by accident sent them to the wrong person in Mi. When i realized my mistake i emailed him to try to get the items back $215.00 worth but to my amazement HE was mad at me ,swearing as if i did it on purpose. In any case he wanted $40.00 to do the right thing but i refused to be blackmailed and so he has cut off communication . THE POST MASTER AND EBAY COULD NOT HELP AS I FIND THAT DISGRACEFUL and so i take a hit. Let this be a warning watch where you send to not like me!

Heck, I woulda told you $50. You have to pay a plumber $80 minimum to come out for a half hour to fix a leaking faucet. $50 for the hour it would take to print a label, prepare the package, drive to the P.O., wait in line and drive back would be a bargain.

It's out of both eBays and USPS's hands. Bottom line is you mailed the items to that person at that address. That buyer could file a SNAD because you didn't send him the correct item(s), and the right buyer can file an INR (unless you shipped something else to them) for not recieving their items.
It's a rather expensive mess all around.

It is always good to adopt a "belt and suspenders" approach when shipping stuff.
"Definition: Belt and suspenders is a term used to mean conservatism and safety. More generally — as the use of both a belt and suspenders to hold up one's pants implies — having redundant safety procedures in place to eliminate all risk."
BTW from a fashion viewpoint wearing both can also mean a sign of insecurity.

Your reply to the negatives is worse than the negative feedback itself. You made a bad situation even worse in my opinion.

OP calling the buyer a liar in feedback most certainly can be removed by the buyer. OP also says, I WAS GOING TO SEND A CHECK FOR THE FULL AMOUNT! Why send a check? Just refund.

My opinion also. I may buy from a seller that has a few negs (depending on situation) but I will NEVER buy from one that leaves such a reply.

It's a bummer for sure. But it was your mistake. The buyer isn't the most honorable individual. There are definitely plenty of them. Turn the negative energy and frustration into motivation to make the money back. Some of the greatest lessons are the most expensive ones!

You stated he had items worth $215.00 that you mistakenly sent to him.
But according to the feedback you sent him 2 items, one sold for $26.99 with $6 sipping the other sold for $14.99 with $7 shipping for a total of $54.98.

If a company sends you an unsolicited gift, it is legal to keep it. This particular law was aimed at companies who would send consumers an unsolicited product and then charge them for it if they didn’t pay or return it.
If a package is delivered to you in error, it is not legal to keep it. It’s your responsibility to notify the shipper or shipping company of the error.
To clarify, if it is unsolicited mail addressed to you and named to you and you keep it legal. (This is your situation)
If it is mis-addressed or mis-delivered with another name on it, it is actually illegal for you to open it, much less keep it.
EXACTLY, while you should always be nice and return a miss labeled item it is not illeagle to keep it.
As far as eBay unless they would file a SNAD and get a pre-paid return label, if they returned it outside of filing a case they could well lose the funds for the items that they did purchase. eBay would see the delivery scan and 'end of story'.
