Sent out a package to a buyer but had it come back as no such address. Contacted buyer and told him what happened and he said he has had mail come to that address for X number of years so doesn't understand why there is a problem. Asked him to double check the address he has listed just to make sure and I'd resend it out again. He said it's correct and he has never had a problem with it. Has been getting his ebay packages there for years. Btw it seems to be a business if that makes a difference. I went online and checked the address myself and the zip he has listed is for ST. Paul but the address he listed is Maplewood. When I checked it shows he must be on the line as the ST. Paul zip can be used for Maplewood I guess. So I resent it out and it's showing out for delivery now. I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen. When I last emailed him, I sent screenshots of what the USPS app showed as the problem as well as the website. Haven't heard from him since. So if it does come back, what is my next step? Will I have to refund the seller? I'm just frustrated with the time it has taken and situation because I did my part and will be out money (not alot, just the point).

It would have been a good idea for your buyer to have contacted his post office and asked about the problem before you re-sent the package.
If it comes back again, you probably should give up, cancel and refund the buyer.

It could be that everything is correct, but your buyer had a complacent mail delivery employee. This CAN happen, especially if your courier is a substitute; They can give a plethora of lame [false] reasons for an inability to deliver. And trust me, this does not happen infrequently. You might want to go to Google Earth and key in your buyer's address, to see what it pulls up visually. You should be able to get a curb side view of that location.

Thank you. Yeah that is another thing I had mentioned in an email as well. Since he is certain his address is correct, inform the PO what happened so maybe they can help him out or be aware this happened.

That was one of the first things I did when the tracking showed the issue, before it was sent back. Everything seems legit. The only thing that came up was the zip code was under one city but because of the location of the city in the address, it should have still been fine. Our local PO had said that it could be the address is on the line of ST. Paul and sometimes that happens. I'm hoping for both our sake it's fine this time and I'll find out by the end of day if it worked. I guess my biggest issue is I did what I was supposed to and went out of my way to try again but buyer isn't responding now. It's not on me to contact his location and figure out what is happening or why. I've tried to help as much as possible but without him doing his part.....it's just frustrating and time consuming

As I am a smaller seller I can afford to act prophylactically, and I periodically check what I have sent out to see what information the tracking numbers have for me; That everything is going according to plan. It has been my experience that the best thing I can do is put a trace on a package, such as this. It always seems to shake up the recipients distribution center, and stuff starts to happen. That modus operandi has never failed me. I realize, that in your situation, it's all hindsight-20/20, but just saying.

And the point of checking Goggle Earth would be?

Next time, try going to USPS.com and search for zip code. Check exactly how they write the address. It may be that the address changed over the years and the buyer is using an older version.

My sister happens to live in a town that has a similar issue where there is a shared zip code and different town names... so that is an actual thing that could occur on that aspect. I do not recall her ever saying she didn't get a package because of that however.
As far as it being an issue with delivery.... if it comes back returned to sender to you as "no such address" on the tracking, and the buyer should open an "item not received" request, DEFINITELY have eBay step in, because that happened to me the a couple of weeks ago, the buyer gave me the wrong house number and since the shipping showed I printed the label and had it shipped to the address provided to me by the buyer, there was NO WAY I was going to be out a nickel because they don't know what house they live in. I basically said that in my message before sending it off to escalate it to eBay, and I nearly fell out of my chair when they found in MY favor and did NOT refund the buyer and closed it in my favor, freed my money back up to be payed out to me again, even though the item was returned back to me by the PO due to "no such address".
So just a tip how to handle it if it gets to that point 🙂

Really? Why would I use Google Earth? It can avail some important information. Such as, is the address just an open lot.... Does it look like an abandoned dwelling.... Does it look like there's an issue with the house or structure number... Or better yet, does it even show up on Google Earth at all. In case you have not heard, it is no perfect world; Everything is subject to error, and there is usually a reason for it. Google Earth has helped me to solve more than one mystery, when it comes to a failed delivery....Especially with the USPS, where finger pointing, and surmising, can abound.

But unless the O/P's buyer is lying, (as he states he gets packages delivered all the time without a problem) that likely is not going to do much good. But if that is the case, it is up to the buyer to make sure that all of their shipping information is updated and current. It should not be the job of the seller to second guess, or try to figure out a buyer's sketchy address, and weren't reckoning on ever having to do so in the first place.

It all ended up working out as the buyer did finally receive it today. My only guess is that maybe their was a substitute postman that didn't realize the zip to the address was correct. Thanks for all the help. This was a first for me but I did notice it does happen on occasion so now I'll have a better idea in the future if it does again.

same exact thing is happening to me right now, I looked up the address zip code also and it showed an armed forces address, I asked him to inform his base post office to let them know he is expecting a package and to make sure his address he gave was correct, he sent me a photo of another package he received from a Ebay seller and it shows the same address I have on him, WHAT DO I DO NOW? I'm like you I'm not getting paid till showed delivered
