New Return Policy & Buyer Remorse returns. Who pays for shipping?

Hello,

The New Return Policy & Buyer Remorse returns. Who pays for shipping?

I've spent a lot of time trying to find the answer to that question.  I even called ECS and talked to a return specialist. Guess what, after 45 minutes, they couldn't find the answer to that question either.  She kept trying to distracted me by reading the New Policy guidelines, which I'd already done; but she was never able to answer my one basic question.

This seems like an important question and one the EVERY Seller would like to know.  Not that we will have a choice, but at least we will know more than we do now.

Can somebody from eBay please answer that one question: {I don't need answers regarding anything else about the new return policy coming in June just this}  If a buyer just changes their mind and wants to return an item (Buyer Remorse), who pays for the return shipping?

Better yet, if you could include a link on an eBay page that documents the answer to that question.

Thanks in advance for the answer.

Sincerely,
Bruce "ImaPaqRat" Fisher

New Return Policy & Buyer Remorse returns. Who pays for shipping?

Ok, well I just received my first "new policy" return yesterday...immediately called eBay, 30 day free returns to receive a 2 cent discount from eBay.....buyer’s remorse, Doesn't Fit, exact comment was, "Shirt says XL but measures quite a bit smaller....love it but have to return due to size...." wonderful, don't care, unless you are the seamstress who made the shirt for Tommy Bahama what is an XL? I don't know, so I measure every item I list and include that in my listings, new/pre-owned/used and altered, "measure twice-return never" now in the "good old days" they would pay round trip shipping to try on an item because they didn't know their measurements or didn't bother to read the description and a 20% restocking fee.....eBay has removed restocking fee but allows sellers if they get back an item used or altered to partially refund up to a 50% max...so that is where I called eBay, as somethings I was told and things you guys reading the posts were told are inaccurate....1st I had to question the estimated return, it was only for the item cost, free returns aren't exactly free, the buyer has to pay initial shipping to get the item, we are only agreeing for remorse returns to pay return shipping...so I'm only loosing $4 because they didn't read the description, so I asked....I don't know if they washed the item before trying it on, so I don't know if it will come back smaller, but the measurements in the listing are the measurements...if you went into a tailor to have a shirt made and they measured you....that is what you would get, not a generic L or XL.....so I asked, they tried it on, I can partially refund them up to 50% back, meaning refund them less than return shipping and a 20% restocking fee, but that wouldn't be fair, please bear with me if this gets long, but I asked, and basing my responses received from 10 CS reps in the webinar answering several thousand sellers questions as long as they could against a dozen CS reps from just calling, thanking them, hanging up and calling right back.....so item was $34.99, I don't pay for initial shipping as seller for remorse, free returns, I pay return shipping, but I asked, when I refund them $27.99, that is 20% without adding return shipping which would make it $23.79 and she said yes if you feel that they used the item, theoretically you can refund them 50% or $17.49..I feel that is unfair, the 20% from the original cost will cover return shipping and time and materials, but what happens when they call you guys crying?  My understanding is eBay will because I've opted in to free 30 day returns pay the difference, she said in some cases, depending on what we view in their returns, comments, condition of the item, etc....I said ok and when they leave me a negative feedback, I was told free 30 day returns for remorse buyers cannot leave negative feedbacks.  New Paragraph as this where no one knew.

Webinar was where they were telling us that, I had to CS reps on phone tell me should they leave negative feedback the system after 10 business days would automatically remove it, yesterday I was told the system can't determine and would have to call and have it removed, so I asked her to transfer me and was told by a 13th person, that is 10 and I hate to say US based, not on script reps in the webinar, 2 who said 10 days and 1 who said call, the Feedback dept. said no, nothing has changed and all feedback will have to be appealed, and buyers are allowed their opinions and the only feedbacks removed would be the typical false positives, language, extortion, irrelevant, etc...I told her, you are telling me something completely different than 13 other people, I believe you are probably right, how do I confirm immediate removal, 10 day automatic, call in and removal or dispute it? it's 13 against you, her that is....she apologized I was getting confusing information, I explained I'm not confused...10 are wrong, 2 are wrong, 1 is wrong and either you are wrong and 13 are wrong.....being confused about a policy because of what you're told by an eBay rep?????? never.....actually always and usually expected....

Sorry this was so long, I'm accepting the return, I'll let you guys know how the partial refund, eBay backing me and removing the negative feedback in a future post the size of a book.....

Ok, so buyer pays return shipping but you end up possibly loosing more from not getting your top rated plus discount than just paying for return shipping should they keep it....

New Return Policy & Buyer Remorse returns. Who pays for shipping?

Ok, more eBay nonsense...I called as everything I sell has the exact measurements, so I'm getting more because I will pay for the item to be returned people just trying on stuff, they never looked at the listing as most buy on their phone and think XL in the title means that it is like every other XL shirt they have...so buyers remorse, I asked eBay, I'm not loosing return shipping when someone doesn't read the description, and if they don't read the description they probably won't read where I'm sticking it back in my return policy there is a 20% restocking fee which is as eBay's new returns, if they try on an item to see if it fits rather than read the description, it's been used, not to mention I've had a couple items returned laundered, not that I mind but occasionally they come back shrucnk smaller than they went out.  So eBay, the rep offered me a 20% coupon rather than forcing a partial return on the buyer...I don't know how many times they will do this, but they also state if I feel it came back in a different or used condition and give a partial refund they will should the buyer call in cover the difference and remove any feedback they leave because I've opted into this free 30 day returns....can someone, as I doubt they are telling sellers, we'll give you the restocking fee rather than forcing the buyer to pay it and see if it works for them?

New Return Policy & Buyer Remorse returns. Who pays for shipping?

I'm hoping someone can use google better than myself as I found this clicking through the new 2018 Spring Seller Updates for I think June? under FAQS there was a posed question.....can as a seller I dispute who pays for return shipping when I offer free returns, and if you click the + symble it stated that if you feel someone is missrepresenting the return, basically stating Not as Described to get a complete and full refund(with the free 30 day returns we are not responsible for initial shipping to the buyer and do not have to refund them) however if they google, how to scam ebay sellers it simply says....if you don't like it open it as not as described or rip off a button after wearing it and getting tired of it and open an Item Arrived Damage case.....I have read that to 2 CS reps about disputing paying return shipping, however when you are looking for something on eBay it's not obvious, or to many sellers found that and they removed it....anyone able to help?
