New I nternational Shipping Program

The new International shipping program will not allow buyers to purchase multiple items using their shopping cart to have them sent together in one package.  International Shipping removes the multiple items and creates an individual order for each item.  This requires the seller to send out multiple packages and requires the buyer to anywhere from 2 to 20 times as much for postage.  This has happened to us.  A buyer used his shopping cart to purchase 13 comic books and the orders came to us as 13 individual orders.  His total for shipping on the 13 orders was over $250 when the single package would have been under $30. This new shipping program will force foreign customers to either pay outrageous shipping fees or never order on eBay.  The old Global Shipping program allowed multiple items in an order.

Not unusual- same as the old Global Shipping Program. Each item has size/weight (if you input them and inputted them correctly) so once an item is purchased, it's assigned a number for that item. If you have an international customer that wants more that one item, you can tell them you will create one listing with all, then they can buy.

Had a similar experience with a buyer last night. Eleven items an extra $150 bucks in shipping. He requested cancellation. Time to go back to the other method.

Yup, I had it last week, but it was only 2 items.

@wastingtime101   Is it you that's putting together the list of issues/questions?  I think it was.  If so, can you please add multiple orders/no combined shipping to that list?   TIA.

Yes, I already have that on there. Appreciate the tag! Hoping to get it finished this weekend.

The GSP did  combine the shipping cost for the international portion of the trip.

With EIS, are you saying that you have to do all separate packages when the cart was used?  I was told if the cart was used that all items could be put in one package even though the shipping cost wouldn't be combined.

IDK.  I assumed that my buyer did NOT use the Cart & bought the 2 items separately (which is pretty common with my buyers), but now reading this thread, maybe she used the cart & I didn't know it?  I'm not sure.  It came through to me as 2 separate orders, but in my case the buyer did not ask me to combine or contact me in any way.   I normally would combine anyway, so that's why I started my thread asking if I could, but the consensus was no.

This has been going on for awhile...I am tired of refunding shipping discounts. Especially when the buyer may not understand English. And guess what: I only sell (lightweight) stamps. And buyer cannot add 2 stamps to their cart to get a shipping cost.

I found the answer to my question.

  • You will ship all EIS Items contained in a single order to the US Shipping Hub in one package;
  • You will not combine multiple orders (either belonging to the same Buyer or different Buyers) in a single package

https://pages.ebay.com/internationalshippingprogram/seller/terms/

Your buyer must not have used a cart if you saw the orders as two separate ones but if they had, you would have been able to mail them together even though they were paying full price shipping for both items.
