New 2017 Fedex Calculator Wrong - Overestimating Cost

I realize Fedex changed their dimensional weight equation and prices have gone up. But many of my Fedex calculations through ebay now show a ridiculous increase. I checked the amount listed by ebay against my Fedex account. In many cases ebay is calculating a cost 30%-50% more than Fedex. Example: For the exact same dimensions and weight via HomeDelivery it's $62 at Fedex.com. The ebay calculation is coming up $95. I'm wondering if there is a glitch with the rate increase changeover.

I have the same problem for Fed Ex items.  The rate is actually changing if you click Get Rate after entering a zip code.  I called Ebay to report the glitch.  I suggest you give them a call and state the problem, so they know it is  more than just one person. 

This has to be fixed ASAP, as it is definitely affecting sales of large items.  $50 shipping is reporting back at close to $100 for some of my listings.  Totally wrong and it is confusing the buyers.

FINALLY - I have found others reporting the same shipping problems I have seen. This thread is about FedEX but it also started 12/26/16 for UPS / Ebay. I went back through previous invoices with EBAY CALCULATING THE SHIPPING and, for zip codes across the country, am seeing a MINUMUM increase of 37%, average increase of ~65%, and a high of 85% - this was all UPS ground for the exact same item.

I have spent hours on the phone and got nowhere! 

Fedex is now showing about the same insane increases.

Ebay blames UPS, UPS blames Ebay. 

BUT, the actual problem IS with UPS and Fedex !!! They both said an "average 4.9% increase". BUT - GO TO UPS.COM AND FEDEX.COM !!! Ground UPS (13x12x10, 25lbs) that USED to be (West coast to East) ~$35 IS NOW $55.99!! FEDEX IS ~$54 !!

UPS and Fedex fed their new rates to Ebay, and they just fed them into their shipping software -- they are done!

Note: the only REAL progress I made was WHILE on the phone yesterday, WITH Ebay, on a specific item of mine,  WE BOTH saw, while I was adding / changing shipping options, THE UPS GROUND CHANGE from $64.11 TO $37.11 !! Then get out or refresh, AND IT WAS BACK TO $64.11

The Ebay lady was then able to document it and "send it up to the techical department".

Now we wait ??? and lose sales, and / or EAT insane shipping for those "free shipping" items.

I too am having this problem with UPS rates. I have gotten nowhere with ebay and UPS.

So frustrating and also loosing sales day by day. I do not know what to do anymore.

Can anyone see if they can find the option to offer daily rates instead of retail rates? I believe it used to be in shipping rate preferences but I'm not finding it now.

Having the same issue with UPS. The customer service rep said that they knew there was a problem and were working on it. They said that they had only known about it for 3 days before I called and it has been 3 days since. Still no change and my items will sit idle with the exorbitant shipping rates that are being quoted. Hope they get this sorted out soon!

I'm experiencing the same thing. There is a huge discrepancy in the amount a buyer's shipping estimate is before checkout vs. the amount they are charged on their purchase invoice. Called ebay customer service 3 times over the past month. They don't seem to have any clue about what is going on with this issue.

Called them again today - no change, no word on what's happening and no solutions other than to go to a fixed rate. They did say it was a known issue but that they have no Idea how their team prioritizes issues like this. I can't imagine we're the only ones encountering this issue, and if so . .  why isn't there mass histeria and more feedback from users?

If you revise your item then under shipping service click on the "calculate shipping" link next to the services selection then it opens a box where you can select the carrier, hit calculate, and then change it. I'm told, however, that that won't change what's shown the the customer when they are calculating the rates. It only shows you so that if you want to determine a fixed rate for the shipping, you can use that as a guide. I tried it, it doesn't change the amount quoted. Very Unfortunate!

You'll need to be more specific, there are no known issues with Shipping. It's best that you contact our Customer Service team and they can talk through this with you and review your account. Here's a link to contact them.

Spoke with another rep today. Nearly 3 months and no changes, no solutions. They suggested I maybe change carrier however it sounds like it's an issue with both UPS AND Fed-Ex so that's not Viable. It is a known issue. They supposedly are working on this (doesn't seem to be the case as I have paid a programmer to write code to use the UPS shipping calculator to quote rates and enter it as HTML in my listing years back and it took him a day). They did tell me that the number of calls/complaints they get about something determine the priority in which it gets handled, so the more times you call in, the better. They did say that the original report for this issue was given to them on 1/3/17 and gave me a ticket # so you could mention it to the cutsomer service rep when calling to save a big explanation with each call. Ticket # is Alert#9397

I suggest calling daily until it gets resolved.

When we checked 1/3/17 the problem / rates were about the same for Fedex and UPS.  Have not tried our "sell similar" with Fedex as we do not use them.

Received from Alan at Ebay "Discussion" Wednesday afternoon week(s) ago - "No known problem with shipping". They wanted examples, I gave them, ignored. See my other posts.

Basically, UPS shipping (which we use a lot) almost doubled `12/12/16 using Ebay calculator (also WAY up on UPS.com).

What I HAVE FOUND OUT is if I do a simple "sell similar" with minimal change to title, my most common UPS Ebay box goes from $64 down to about $32 !!! which is actually TOO low. SO, I calculate what I need to charge and go back into item and add $7 - $10 as needed. That is for domestic. (Don't forget to delete the original item so you do not confuse the buyer - and yes. all your sales history is GONE).

For some of my Postal International items we have had to add up to $47 !!! to get the real shipping -- SO, if you do the "sell similar" be SURE to re-check ALL your shipping options.

And do remember -- "No known shipping problem"

In the same boat here. eBay is quoting $112, when FedEx.com is quoting $60 for the same shipment with same box dims and weights.

I've resorted to offering USPS Retail Ground instead, which quotes back $57...close enough...and I ship it FedEx Ground instead.

I had an auction that I accepted an offer on, 150 + 76.42 s/h.  When the customer paid, he was invoiced by eBay and paid shipping cost of 39.21.  I contacted eBay, they acknowledged the error on the FeDex Calc, but basically I'm shorted 37.21.  I have no way of knowing what they will bill the customer.  If shipping was quoted correctly, I would of accepted an offer of 180.  Ridiculous.  Waiting for a supervisor to call, basically telling me nothing they can do.  Cancelling my high shipping auctions now till this is resolved.
