I'm very confused. A buyer filed a NAD claim on a Marc Jacobs bag I sold, she didn't like the "design" of the zipper closure on the bag. I responded through ebay and the claim was closed due to money back guarantee not covering buyer's remorse, which this was deemed. Today, I wake up to negative feedback. It was my understanding that when a claim was filed and found in the sellers' favor, that negative feedback couldn't be left. I called ebay and was told it was not found in my favor, just that it wasn't eligible for return because it was buyer's remorse.....huh??? Therefore the feedback stays, well not the feedback, they removed the comment, but the negative stayed...WTH?

I think it should be removed as well. I'd call again. When they closed the case, did you receive a automated message from ebay that says that? It usually contains wording to the effect the case was closed in your favor. Maybe need to point that out to the next rep you speak with.

I have spent the afternoon on the phone with them...lol The consensus seems to be that they don't cover buyer's remorse in the money back guarantee so the claim was not closed in my favor...it was just closed. Quite nonsensical if you realize the claim was fraudulent to begin with. They said the only claims that are now closed in a seller's favor are items that aren't shipped back as requested and non-receipt cases. Apparently all buyer's remorse SNAD cases are no longer noted as found in the seller's favor but just closed. Negative stays...the comment was removed though. Interestingly, every inital response I had from reps was that the neg should have been removed, but then when directed to the appropriate department I was then informed of the news that it couldn't be removed. If anyone has any info or anyone I should contact, I would appreciate it.

Exactly.
Just out of curiousity, did you receive an automated message from ebay once they closed the dispute and what did it say about why it was closed?

I think this is just one more step in the direction of forcing all returns.

I'm sure you have, but it's gotta be mentioned to visit your buddies list. Some people are totally offended when their negs are removed. You know, Free Speech and all
BTW your response was perfect. The neg looks worse on them. Sorry this happened.

Wow. And they are keen enough to edit the wording to simply "won't affect your seller performance" which is technically true but still who wants a neg like that. And I hate when ebay removes just the comment - somehow it makes it even worse IMO. Ridiculous.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I was quite stunned by ebay's response...I just wish I could keep up with all their "fixes". To think that someone who filed a false claim is allowed to wreck further havoc with a negative is appalling. I hope a lot of sellers read this thread and realize that even though a buyer's claim is refused, their feedback is still at stake.
Also, had the buyer contacted me with their dislike without going through ebay and trying to get both shippings paid, I probably would have worked with her to resolve the issue. We both would have been happier. Oh well, I'll wear the neg proudly...I think it helps that her comment was removed although I am once again, speechless, that the comment and not the neg was removed. What's the point?

The point is its disgusting..and Im truly sorry this happened to you.

I'm sure it was a "beginner" scammer learning how to ask for a partial refund. I'm sorry you got the neg, but at least it was removed. I normally don't recommend a seller respond to negs. It just draws more attention. At least you didn't have to pay to get it back. If the case was found in your favor, they should not have been able to leave feedback. You might try and call eBay again and see if some CS Rep sees it the same way.
