Multiple First Class Shipping Options

Does anyone know if it is possible to explicitly include 2 options for first class shipping in a listing?  As an example, I would like to give buyers an option to pay .50 cents for a plain white envelope shipment or a 2.99 for bubble mailer shipment.  I'd prefer to explicitly offer the options rather than do free shipping since I'd rather have the buyers decide how they want to receive low cost items as this will allow me to keep my prices lower rather than building in a $2.99 s/h cost to each item.

I don't like any of those choices. You lose on all of them.

Just 'build in' an adequate shipping cost. Good buyers know that shipping isn't free.

STANDARD shipping should be for the envelope not over 1 ounce at 0.55 -  FIRST CLASS shipping for bubble mailer

Yes, you can offer both letter and package First Class shipping.

Set up shipping as a flat rate, not calculated.  As the first service, choose generic "Standard" shipping, and then choose "First Class package" as the second option. In your listing description, explain the difference in packaging for these two options.

I would be surprised if anyone chooses the package option.

As noted in the other post, the prices you have quoted (50 cents and $2.99) are below the actual cost of those  services, plus you'll be charged a final value fee an PayPal fees on that amount.

Appreciate the answers....I'm not looking to make shipping a profit center, just cover most of my costs while offering cheaper shipping than other sellers.  $2.99 is about the average rate I pay for less than 4oz packages I ship.   It's in the sports card category.  The reason I want the two options is that when cheaper cards sell for .99 or 1.99, having to pay $2.99 for shipping when the item is only $1.99 is a deal breaker for some people.  If they have the options to pay .60 cents for a plain white envelope (and they choose it), then it is better for me.  On the flip side, some people will want the upgraded shipping option and better protection regardless of the the cost.  Thanks again.

The online postage itself will be $2.74 - $3.18, so yes that averages about $2.99, but don't forget that you are paying eBay (and maybe PayPal) fees on that portion of the payment, too.

Re: Shipping as profit center

Buyer pays 2.99

FVF (0.29)

PayPal (0.04)

Actual Postage Zone 8 (3.18)

Size 0 Kraft Bubble Mailer approximate (0.39)

2.99-0.29-0.04-3.18-0.39= (0.91)

You would be taking a LOSS of 91 cents on every Zone 8 First Class Package shipment

Multiple First Class Shipping Options

I'm providing hypothetical figures.  The main question was how to provide two first class options.  The shipping figures I end on depend on the fixed price I assign to my listings as well as the type of shipping materials I use.  In other words, sometimes I charge 3.99, somtimes I charge 2.99 etc.  I understand how it works, been selling clothing on Ebay for years....no need to be the shipping police.  Appreciate the input though....

If you are using flat rate shipping you could put in one choice for .60 etc and show it as the generic economy standard shipping.  The second choice could be first class package at a flat rate.  The only way to see if it would work is to try it.

I suspect though that most people are going to choose the less expensive rate.
