Mistakingly Accepted a Retrurn

A Buyer requested to return a purchase 9I do not accept returns). After reviewing the request i attempted a reply and mistakenly "accepted" the return. I immediately contacted ebay customer support to correct the error but was told to call back after 3 days.

Is this my only option available to correct the error?

Depends what the return was for..if it was a not as  described, you did the right thing clicking accept for return, then you need to provide a return label.. Otherwise Ebay would refund him, and you wont get your item back, no returns doesnt mean no refunds for snad.

I did not accept a return because the buyer made a false claim which I will ask eBay to get involved for a resolution. But don’t understand why can’t correct the mistake in acceptance.

As mentioned above. Only in extremely limited cases would you opt to not accept a return. You can have "sellers does not accept returns" on your listing and it makes absolutely no difference. 99 percent of the time you'll either willingly accept the return or ebay will force it whether you agree or not. In some cases you will lose the item and the payment. Out of 25-30 returns a year I probably only decline to willingly accept maybe 1 every few years and that's when there is an admitted blatant violation of ebays return policy that's admitted to by the buyer. It's not even fathomable anymore to try and fight returns. Unfortunately they just have to be figured in (right or wrong) to the cost of business even when it's obvious buyer dishonesty or misuse.

Dont ask Ebay to step in, they usually immediately decide in the buyers favor. Your ealize you will receive a defect if you refuse to refund for a snad complaint?

I think you have to just accept the return and refund the buyer when you receive the item back.  I don't think eBay is going to reverse the return, even if it wasn't an SNAD, which you would have to refund anyway.

Thanks, helpful. Never had to deal with a return or a dishonest buyer. Makes me question why I’m using eBay if this is the likely outcome.

Unfortunately it only gets worse with time. Back in the day (not so long ago). People were mailing checks and money orders across the country and then waiting a couple of weeks for their item (with very few scams or issues I might add). Now every online platform is loaded with all sorts of nefarious buyers and sellers. There will come a point when it’s no longer worth trying to do business online (I’m not quite there yet but not too far off).

If the buyer filed an INAD, you don't want to get Ebay involved unless you want them to refund the buyer from your account and let them keep the item.

Your no returns don't mean anything when a buyer files an INAD.

If you want the item back before refunding, accept the return, provide return shipping and refund buyer once something is returned.

Once that's done, then you can complain to Ebay, won't do any good though.

Have a great day.
