Missing your Delivery?

Are you missing your delivery?

You make a purchase on eBay. You check the shipping and Yes, the seller has provided a tracking number and a projected date of delivery.

The delivery date comes and goes - you check on eBay and follow the tracking. It says "Delivered". Humm, I didn't get it. So I contact the seller. The seller says they have a record to say that it was shipped and delivered. You ask for a copy. You then contact the shipper who comfirms the delivery. You ask when and how can they prove it was delivered?

The shipper says I'll contact the driver and get back to you. 3-5 days later, the shipper calls and says "The driver said they dropped it at the gate." I explain the house is .3 of a mile from the gate on the road. Why didn't they deliver at the house? Shipper says, "not our problem".

Contact eBay - they say "Not our problem"

This scenario has happened to us 3 times during the holidays - Pay and no Product.

Amazon here I come! They always back their products and in case of a loss, they cover the consumer and don't leave them hanging.

What about you?

Re: Missing your Delivery?

You need to file a complaint with whatever company keeps dropping them off at the gate, and talk to the drivers if possible.  We had a driver that was scared of dogs.  Our neighbor's dogs like to roam in our yard.  My dad was in the yard when he watched the guy try to drop the package off at the mailbox instead of go up our 40 ft. driveway.  He ran up to the guy and told him to get himself up to the porch, and drop it off like everyone else.  He also said that if he were to leave them at the mailbox, they would be stolen, or ruined.  They guy acted like he had no clue that could happen.

I've done better than that. About a year ago I had a problem and set up accounts with both UPS and Fed Ex. In the comments section, I noted - DELIVER only at House - DO NOT LEAVE at Gate.

When this occurred, I asked the supervisors to look up my accounts - they said, Yes, I see it noted on your accounts, however, the Drivers don't always look at the customer information.

So put a note on the gate and stop playing the victim card

Re: Missing your Delivery?

Do you understand now, that this is not an issue with ebay or the seller, its an issue with the carriers & you need to address it with them and do whatever you can on your side to prevent it from happening again? No website, not even amazon, is going to repeatedly replace your orders free of charge everytime you claim you didn't get them.

Re: Missing your Delivery?

It's not a problem with understanding...

Here's the problem - if a shipper says it's shipped, then ebay accepts that as the rule.

We both know you can create a label - and it reports on ebay that it was shipped. However, if the seller never delivers to the P.O. or shipper - it still says it's shipped.

Guess I will have to put a video on the gate - that way if they say it's delivered, the video will either confirm or deny the actual delivery.

Re: Missing your Delivery?

Really, you think that will make a difference?

NOT -

BTW, you don't have to respond - it's evident you don't have a clue!

The tracking info should be on those messages you get from Ebay when the seller prints a label. Why don't you check the tracking? You can tell if the package is on the move.

Your problem is only with the shipper. Ebay and your seller have nothing to do with it.

Re: Missing your Delivery?

This is your problem, not the sellers.  He sent it, got his delivered tracking, thats it. If it gets stolen on your end, hey sorry, but not the sellers fault.  I recommend next time you bid an item, ask the seller if he would include signature confirmation. Of course this would cost a bit more on your end for shipping. With signature confirmation nothing should be left at your property without someone physically being there to sign for it. And since someone isn't, it will be held at the local PO for you to personally pick up.

Then it would be up to you to deal with the carrier to get it delivered or a refund, the seller would still not be responsible.

We live on 40 acres. House is .3 of a mile from the entry gate. The gate is unlocked. Dogs are in fenced area around the home. There are 2 dry locations at the house to drop the packages without dogs.

Is the gate closed?

If so, it is unreasonable to expect delivery drivers to open a gate to get to your house.  I am surprised that USPS does that for you.  I wouldn't.

You might try talking to your Postmaster.

Re: Missing your Delivery?

Aren't you just a ray of sunshine. So I can purchase from Amazon and if it repeatedly shows delivered, I can always get a refund? Awesome!!!

Then based on the response you got when you called the carrier to find out why the driver wasn't coming to your house, it looks like you will have to make sure to only buy from sellers who ship by USPS.
