I bought a gift last night an expected delivery was 12/20. Tonight it show delivered to NY I AM IN IL. Do I have to wait until after 20th or sincit show delivered am I sol?

Yes, you have to wait. Most likely, the scanner was accidentally set to "Delivered" instead of "Accepted." If so, the tracking will be corrected the next time the package is scanned.

I concur.
The post office clerk or mail carrier likely scanned the package "delivered" instead of "accepted." They forgot to switch the setting. It shouldn't happen, but it does.
Is your seller in NY? You only bought it last night and the mis-scan makes sense.
The tracking may not update properly on eBay because of the error, but the USPS website should show proper updates once it hits the sort facility overnight.

Seller was listed in PA but now I see it was mailed and delivered in Buffalo NY so wrong scan is most likely it. Thanks.
