If you run into this again for an eligible item, such as the encyclopedia, you can purchase a label for Media Mail at
Press kits might not be eligible.

Use Pirateship to import your eBay orders and print a label there.
You can use the'r custom package size menu to save standard sizes of boxes you may use. In this example I've used it to save the common sizes of Priority Mail boxes. When you select one of these form the menu its size is automatically entered with a default weight of 2 pounds so you only need to possible change the weight. A feature the incompetent executives at eBay would never think of on their own in a million years, - just as they don't understand, after 25 years, the benefit of listing books in non book categories related to the book's subject.

@69copperhead - I use media mail about three times a month and haven't had any issues. Just saying that I haven't experienced any issues or heard of others so either it's a new glitch or there's something connected to your account. Make sure you aren't having issues based on weight as encyclopedias are very heavy for just one volume. Verify your weight and dimensions in case that is the issue. Best of luck to you....

Was the encylopedia listed in a category that qualifies for Media Mail?

USPS has a specific list of items that may be shipped via Media Mail. Items that have advertising aren't allowed, so that excludes comic books and magazines. Here's a chart of what's permitted. Press kit don't fit into any of these categories; USPS is apparently using a different definition of "media" than you are. This service was originally known as "book rate."

Just saying: Media mail at this time is the most lost and delayed shipping you can do.
You might think of using a different method to ship for a bit; or until the USPS corrects there problems.
Shipping this method is costing sellers money and item due to stuck or lost.

Racing media kits do not qualify for media mail.
Comics do not qualify for media mail.
Magazines do not qualify for media mail.
Periodicals do not qualify for media mail.
Generally speakling, here is what qualifies:
Also, media mail packages may not contain advertising except that books may contain incidental announcements of other books and sound recordings may contain incidental announcements of other sound recordings.
