I bought a book from one of the big book sellers here. It didn't arrive. I waited a week past the estimated delivery date and asked for a refund, which the seller granted within 2 days (the book disappeared into one of the big sorting centers and showed no signs of reemerging). I waited an additional 2 weeks in case the book appeared before buying another copy. A week after that, lo! the book showed up after spending a month and a half kicking around USPS. I don't need 2 copies; when the book I reordered arrives, can I send back the first copy by writing 'Return to sender' across the unopened package? I guess if USPS will not return a Media Mail package, I can see if the seller is willing to send a return label.

The seller would have to pay for the return postage for the MM package. Only Priority Mail can be returned/refused for no additional postage cost. Unless the book was expensive, it's probably not worth the seller's time and effort to follow through on this return.

Yes but if it was sent Media Mail the seller will have to pay to get it back.
You might want to see if they want to bother with it.

I would ask the seller of the second book what they want you to do. That would be a return and unless they offer free returns, you should pay for the return shipping.

Nope. The seller pays return shipping. OP got a refund in good faith.

I don’t see it stating the second book was reordered from the same seller. Maybe the buyer meant that. That’s why I said “seller of the second book”.
