Mail overdue -- open case with USPS

I had my doubts about this, even though others on the board have said it works.  I had a book that had gone into one of the USPS Black Holes, Richmond, CA, which was a oubliette even before COVID.  It theoretically was in a shipping container for 3 weeks; meanwhile, other book rate items made it to me while it was still 'in transit'.  I opened a case with USPS about the book being stalled en route.  Lo, the next day it miraculously showed up at my local post office.  I don't know where the disconnect was, but it seems sometimes a 'lost mail' case can dislodge a package from wherever it got stuck.

Mail overdue -- open case with USPS

Same happened to me.  I had a book parked in a Detroit area sorting facility for 3 weeks when I ran out of patience and opened a missing mail case.

My book showed up the very next day at my local post office and was delivered to me later that afternoon by the carrier who delivers Express mail.  He rang my doorbell, handed it to me and apologized for the delay in delivery.  Very nice!
