Lost in transition

I was just informed by eBay that a item that I shipped out was lost by the USPS and never got to the address is my fault, that I should make sure it gets to the address, I only print the buyers information on the shipping label, isn’t that why we pay postage to the usps? So now I am responsible for refunding the buyer, and that I should buy shipping insurance to protect my self from lost items, so that only increases the postage that we to pay. What a joke.

If the package did not get to the buyer then, yes, you are expected to refund the buyer. After all, it is not their fault either that the package never made it. So, after sending the refund, you then file a claim with the post office for the lost package. Like it or not that is the way it is done.

Hello, yes I understand that, but the postal service is saying that the package was delivered to a third party shipper with acknowledgement, but for some reason it is being specified as lost, that’s what I don’t understand, and I updated the tracking as soon as eBay asked, I appealed but lost.8DBF1FB4-79F4-4C2C-93E5-EDBAC730F822.png

You needed to contact the USPS local PO that was responsible for delivery and asked them to update the tracking to 'Delivered' then the case would have been closed in your favor.

Ebay goes purely by the tracking. If the tracking doesn't reflect delivery then you are on the hook.

I'm curious was this delivery in Miami/Doral FL? They are horrible at getting delivery scans.

Yes, delivery scans are often absent which shipments to freight forwarders in Doral.

I have no concern because my buyers are honest, but if I was selling bigger ticket items, I would pay for signature confirmation,

We sellers are responsible for safe and on-time delivery. Not just on Ebay but for any other mail order sales under US law.
