So, I think I screwed up. I had a local buyer message me interested in local pickup. I said sure and created two new listings with $0 shipping. In hindsight, I should have listed it as local pickup, but I didn't. The buyer paid and we are supposed to meeting on Monday. How do I handle the shipping in Ebay? I don't have a tracking number, obviously. I am particularly concerned because I don't want to be dinged on my performance.
Should I cancel the sale and relist it as local pickup? I don't think the buyer would mind. Or, should I just ship something small so I have a tracking number? Or, is there another easier solution?
Thank you!

Cancel and relist as pickup only. Make sure the buyer is on board.
Best,
Grandma

You can mark the item as shipped after the two of you meet on Monday and he gets his item. A tracking # is not a requirement for posting that the item has shipped.
...although he could come back later and complain that the item was never sent...

Mark it shipped when they pick it up. Save the messages where pick up time is agreed upon. Have them sign the copy of the invoice.

I swear that Ebay has put a defect on my performance because I listed something as shipped, but didn't add a tracking number. Is that not correct?

Followup. For proof of delivery eBay said to have the buyer sign a copy of the order form at the time of pickup. I'm guessing the invoice is the same thing.

That should not be...a tracking # is preferred but it is not required. Think of all of the tiny items that are only 99 cents with free shipping (USA sellers) that will fit into a regular envelope with a stamp on it. There is no way that they are paying $2.XX for a package that will have a tracking #

Thank you everyone. I think I'll mark shipped upon pickup. I don't want to inconvenience the buyer if I don't have to.

One of the procedures for local pick up is to list it as local pick up. THEN when the buyer comes to pick up the item, eBay has sent them a QR Code or a 6-digit code. Buyer shows you the QR Code or 6 digits, the seller scans the QR Code or enters the digits in the app and the exchange is official.

Excellent! I have never done a local p/u so I would have not known this. Good to know that they have a code for the seller to input so that there is no he said they said.

If you meet the buyer in your local police station and get notarized proof that he picked up the item with photos and copies of 2 forms of ID on video with your police chief in the video......... he can open an "item not received" case and keep the item for free because you can't provide a tracking number. eBay's Filipino customer service agents WILL.NOT.UNDERSTAND your explanation.
