We are not talking a lot of money on the sale but it's a matter of finding out what is going on and why. The listing for a linen hand towel said shipping was USPS 1st class large envelope white makes sense for a small flat towel and max 3 ounces shipping. The buyer paid for 1st class shipping. All good so far. But when I tried to print the label the site charged for USPS Ground Advantage which cost more and would not allow me to change to the less expensive 1st class. You could go to other options in Priority and pay a whole lot more but not 1st class. Tried to find an answer on the Help site and that was a joke. Have any of you had this problem and, hopefully, know how to correct it?

You may have misunderstood me.
I did not suggest that USPS would eliminate Media Mail -- I use it for most of my items, as well.
What I DID say was that eBay MAY decide (at some future date) to eliminate the option of Media Mail, since the price is now the same at the post office as it is on eBay -- and that there WAS a time in the past when eBay offered a discount on Media Mail.
But I also added that eliminating Media Mail as an option was highly unlikely, since that would require the eBay techies to create a program to delete the option for Media Mail -- and the eBay techies are not inclined to bother with that.

USPS eliminated the option for First Class Package in July 2023.
It is now called Ground Advantage.
And a bubble mailer can not be mailed as a USPS Flat envelope -- USPS considers bubble envelopes to be packages.

"USPS is the one that should eliminate most MM."
Why?
Media Mail is still used by many sellers on eBay, and is still more cost efficient than Ground Advantage.
And obviously USPS still considers it a "cash cow," since the rates for Media seem to be regularly increased by USPS.
I've been using it since the 1960s, when it used to be called "Book Rate."
And it still seems to be popular amongst sellers and buyers of books, CDs, DVDs, records, VHS, etc.
Long live USPS Media!

That they have, but not as much as tracking.
Unfortunately the dishonest buyer(s) who will claim they haven't received the package are the reason we can't have anything nice in this world.

I forgot USPS calls it Ground Advantage. Then choose Ground Advantage and use that option. Yes, an item in a large bubble mailer is a package. i believe I wrote that part correct.

It was a linen hand towel, not a terry cloth towel so it was a very thin envelope that cost 92-cents at the post office this morning. A lot less than quoted here for 1st class shipping of almost $3 if it had been available.

Thanks for getting back to us with the details. That 92 cents postage means that your envelope was thin enough and light enough to be mailed as a 2-ounce letter. A 2-ounce flat (AKA Large envelope) would have been $1.63.

Yes, go back in time a few months.

Found a glitch today related to your thread. When you attempt to add an additional shipping service,
the drop-down menu currently offers:

No, eBay does not owe you a refund. This is not a glitch. You did NOT have to purchase a Ground Advantage label. As noted above, eBay only sells postage for packages. If you want to mail your item as a First Class letter or flat (AKA Large envelope), you have to go to the PO or just put stamps on.
