Late Delivery, when to ask for refund?

I bought a guitar from a business in Germany on the 17th of last month (I live in California btw)
-Estimated delivery was the 10th of this month.

-Last update was on the 12th: "In transit to next facility"

-I received this same message from the 8th to the 12th and then I stopped receiving any updates by text. 

-At first seller was very communicative, and offered to email the carrier for an update, especially because of the international shipping. 

-Seller has then stopped responding to my messages that ask for an update.

 

Do I wait a little longer or should I just request my refund?

 

PS. I am aware that international shipping, COVID, and the holidays are all factors that lead to late shipments however it just seems like its been a very long time and it has become concerning.

Wait a bit longer..I just got a pair of glasses delivered TODAY that was shipped out November 27th..it went from California to Florida..

 

Just wait, your seller is probably at a lost on what to say..

Before the pandemic, sometimes international shipments I shipped with the Global Shipping Program took 3-4 weeks to be delivered. COVID-19 and a huge increase in holiday shipments certainly have added to the delivery time. I think your package will probably be delivered but it may take quite a while.

 

However, you must keep in mind that you have 30 days from the date of purchase to open an Item Not Received case on eBay, so you can't wait too long if it turns it that the package is lot. But if you paid with PayPal, you can open a case with them up to 180 days from the purchase date.

Where is the package now?  Is it in the USA yet?  You can open a INR claim but we all know that mail is delayed.  If you receive a refund you need to repay the seller  the seller when the package does arrive.  Unfortunately the seller isn't able to give you any updated information other than what's already posted on the carrier's web site.

You know it's on the way, and will eventually make it. You have until Jan 10 to open a case on eBay and you have 180 days from the date of purchase to open a case on PayPal. I'd wait until Jan 9 and open it then.

I would be patient. 

I just had a package delivered today that was shipped 11/2 from Europe. 

Does the tracking showing the package is in the US yet?

It got to New York on the 8th I believe but I've got no updates since then, but yes its in the USA

Yeah it said it reached NY so its in the USA, i dont mean to sound impatient because I know everyone is having these issues but considering it was an expensive order, i just wanted to be totally sure I wouldn't be at a total loss you know?

As noted above, you can file your "Item not received" claim up to 30 days after the latest estimated delivery date.  If the delivery estimate was December 10, then you have until January 9 (because December has 31 days).  I'd file on the 8th just to be sure eBay isn't doing something quirky wth time zones or whatever.  

 

While you're waiting, you can read eBay's buyer protection policy, which they call the 'Money back guarantee."

It can take weeks to clear customs during the pandemic.
