Twice in the last 2 weeks (different sellers) I've had a package shipped from the East coast to Hawaii returned to shipper with no explanation and no help at all from neither eBay nor FedEx other than "you need to call the other company". The sellers are legit and are as dumbfounded as I am. My problem is why wait till the package goes all the way to California (both items) a week later and only then decide to return it? I got my refund for the 1st item no problem but I want my item not the money! In the meantime I received a similar eBay item from Japan in 5 days! What's going on with California? I'm very reluctant to use either company unless I have to. Maybe eBay sellers should use UPS or USPS? Might cost more but at least you're guaranteed a delivery! Uggh!

Do you know if the seller created the shipping label through eBay's Fedex account? If so, that's probably the reason. eBay's account is an "embargoed shipper" for Hawaii. I don't know exactly what Fedex means by that term, but the result is that you can't ship to Hawaii using a Fedex shipping label generated through eBay. It'll just get returned to the sender once it hits California. Sellers can still ship to Hawaii with Fedex if they create the label using their own account though.

eBay is an embargoed shipper for FedEx Ground service to Hawaii because eBay has violated FedEx regulations.
You can use FedEx Ground to Hawaii as long as it's shipping on another FedEx account, and not eBay's FedEx account.
