Insanely annoying: every time I go to print a USPS label, the chosen default method is USPS Priority Mail, regardless of the size, weight, value of the shipment, or method selected in the listing. Priority Mail constitutes less than 5% of the items I ship. Why can't 1st class parcel, media mail, or even eBay standard envelope be configured to be the default?
It's far too easy when you're in a hurry to not click off the default, which then results in having to cancel/refund the label (if you even catch it at all).
I realize that eBay makes money on what we charge and pay for shipping, so it is in their best interests to configure a default that is most hostile to sellers, but there needs to be a way to change the default shipping method in label printing... or is there one buried somwhere and I'm missing it?
My cynical nature tells me this is deliberate on the part of eBay, and they want sellers to ship via the most expensive method possible (heck, why not go all out and make Express Mail the default?) even if that method is not regularly used.
Realistically, how many sellers use Priority Mail as their default shipping method? I'd bet it is a VERY low percentage...

I only offer $5 first class shipping. it on my listing and its in my business policies, that every single seller has to have.
its also the only shipping I have listed in my one single template
my buyers cant select anything else besides what I offer.
I could send an invoice for priority if I wanted but thats not what you are asking about
I see you have economy shipping listed and thats it. the only thing I ever do is put in 6 ounces in shipping and hit print or pay for label, the shipping I want is always defaulted to first class
if you are using the calculator I woud stop doing that and go straight to fixed price shipping instead of calculated.
I wish I know why it does not work for you
maybe you need to go back over your policy in shipping or in the three required business policies

I don't use calculated shipping at all, nor do I offer multiple shipping options on listings. It's only ever flat rate shipping (with rules for additional items added to same purchase).

I don't know if this is just the way it works or not but when I usually do flat rate too, and I seldom put in any weights or sizes ahead of time. When the make a label comes up, it's on a previous entry, which is the lowest first rate. Then the drop down allows me to select what I want.
No idea why, but that same entry is always there....may be from a time I did enter the weights/sizes for a listing.

You don't specify which service you are going to use so it defaults to Priority. If you specified first class or ebay standard envelope that's what it would default to. It also defaults to Priority when the service specified isn't valid for that category or for a service that ebay doesn't provide.
I'm sure that they could set it up to default to another method or none at all but it's unlikely that they are going to change anything. The cynical part of you is probably right...I'm sure that they prefer that you use of the more expensive methods.

I think if you don't use calculated shipping (using something like "flat rate standard") the system HAS to default to something, so it just defaults to Priority Mail. It IS annoying, since I would think something under a pound should just default to First Class.
