Package Fell Into A Memory Hole - How To Resolve?

I got a first-class shipment through USPS that's evidently fallen into a portal to the Forbidden Zone or something somewhere in Minnesota.   (Lucky it's not ebay, but first time I tried shipping online outside of ebay stuff.)  I'm going on 18 days now that tracking hasn't registered delivery.  Post office was absolutely of no help (well it'll get there when it gets there).

Any place else where I can ask and get some solid answers on this one?

Missing Mail and Lost Packages | USPS

Submit a missing mail search request.  (Option 3)  For me that usually bumps the package along.

Thanks.  Could be a poorly trained CSR in the post office that they couldn't refer me to do that and gave that quote in the parens above as a response to me, or initiate it themselves.
