It's fairly small. 8" and weighs about 5 pounds. I have the original box and packaging. Should I box with peanuts, bubble wrap? The buyer is experienced and reputable. Should I take plenty of pictures before shipping to protect myself? Thanks,
Matt

Perhaps you should take it to the FedEx store and have them professionally package it, unless you have enough shipping knowledge to handle it yourself. Then ship with insurance, and if FedEx packages it, it would be impossible to deny any insurance claim due to improper packaging at their discretion.
Otherwise tons of bubble wrap and peanuts, double box, and tons more bubble wrap and peanuts around the inner box, leaving no wiggle room at any point with either the globe or the inner box, with the globe at least 12 inches away from either of the 6 sides of the outer shipping box.

I can't really give specifics for packaging snow globes, but as a general rule, package everything with the idea that the postal employees WILL play dodgeball with the package.
Also use lots of tape.

Thanks for everyone's input. Packaging ended up weighing more than the 3 lb item. I think it's safe.

Yeah I added insurance and signature confirm.

Yeah it worked out well, honestly if that $520 ending bid didn't exist. I probably would have listed for $200.

I've always felt like just a tiny bit of wiggle room will help with cushioning, just as long as that tiny bit of wiggle room doesn't expand into a lot during shipment.

We prefer fork lift smash over dodgeball.

I think my package has a 60/40 to make to a fork lift smash.

I do the same thing when an item sells fast. I wonder if I should have listed it higher. Then I go back and realize that I'm happy with the price I got and stop the "what if's".
You would have been happy with the $200, so it's a great sale at $800. It's a wonderous sale, magnificent sale, amazing sale.
Now be happy and...
On to the next listing!
