It's fairly small. 8" and weighs about 5 pounds. I have the original box and packaging. Should I box with peanuts, bubble wrap? The buyer is experienced and reputable. Should I take plenty of pictures before shipping to protect myself? Thanks,
Matt

Someone else will come along and offer you packing recommendations.
Just wanted to tell you that "plenty of pictures" make no difference to eBay if the buyer opens an NAD case.
eBay has no idea if you took pictures and then sent another item. Again, all the videos in the world have no impact if the buyer opens a case.

Thanks. I believe I will just ship Fedex insured and pack it as well as possible. It actually only weighs 3 pounds. The buyer has 1500+ feedback. I'm not too concerned.

I would place the snow globe back into it's original Styrofoam cartouche then wrap around that with bubble wrap, place in box. Fill in open areas of original box with peanuts, seal. Wrap the entire original box with larger bubble wrap and place into a shipping box, fill voids with peanuts.
Like @soh.maryl stated, no need for pictures. If you package good, it will or should arrive good!

Bubble wrap..box..
Bubble wrap box..
In lieu of peanuts, use newspaper or plastic bags from store purchase.

As everyone has said, double box and fill void. Just do the movement test. When packed, and the box is shaken, there should be no movement of anything inside.

To prevent these issues I always figure out how I'm going to ship something before I even list it.

Thanks. Didn't really consider the double boxing. Which I will do. The item sold in less than 4 hours, which is makes it pretty obvious I could have gotten a good bit more for it. Bummer.

Yes, you must double box! And don't dwell on if you could have gotten more, that's added stress and you don't need it, holidays are coming!!! Good luck to you!

I'd say $800 is pretty darn good. Be happy with what you got - you were good with the price when you listed it, after all.
And who's to say you could have gotten more? Might have just been the exact right buyer at the exact right time. I'm looking at one that sold on Sept 10 also with the box for $520 at auction. I think you did great.

You're aware that signature on delivery is required for transactions over $750 to qualify for seller protections, right @singular-source?

Use bubble wrap. Peanuts will allow the item to shift around and come in contact with the side of the box. Also five pounds is too heavy for peanuts. They will crush down and create space for the item to move around. That leads to more crushing and shifting.

Hmm an item containing a liquid that if damaged, can cause damage to other goods being shipped:
Make sure it is secured in such a way that it can not leak if damaged.

I agree with silverstatetreasureboxes - I usually double box all my collectables. I recently sold a ceramic music box and was so stressed. First I wrapped it in bubble wrap and put in original box and then bubble wrapped that box and put inside another box. Buyer said it was in excellent condition. Always over pack, and when you are finished - shake the box - and hopefully you won't hear anything moving.
