Item sent through Global Shipping Program, falsely marked as delivered.

Hello everybody,

A small item was sent from the UK to Israel via GSP.

After three weeks I noticed that it is marked as "delivered", although it wasn't.

As I understand, eBay is responsible for the shipping so I can't get any extra information from the seller in order to try and locate the package. This happened a week ago, so I would like to act while there is a chance to find my item.

What bugs me is that the shipping cost me twice the item itself.

Who should I contact for help?

 Thank you,

Idan

I came in to update that I wrote eBay about the damaged item, and they refunded me immediately. It is a shame that an old collector's item got broken in the process, but at least there is a fair ending to this story.

Does it show delivery to where you are or just inside the uk Because it will show a delivery there before it gets forwarded to you

Delivery to where I am. Green lights everywhere, like a mission accomplished.

From the start @gershon_gershonov the Global Shipping Program has made themselves nearly impossible to contact. For awhile recently, its manager Jeff Frack has popped in, usually to confirm that tracking is in transit or already delivered, but even that seems to have ended.

And from the beginning, the advice from the community mentors, who are eBay employees, has been to start a case, eBay will detect it's a GSP transaction, and hold the third-party shipper Pitney Bowes responsible to solve the issue.

So if

1. tracking shows Delivered, but

2. your actual item is missing,

start a return request for Missing parts or pieces:

- On your Purchases page, click More actions then Return this item.

- Click Show more on the list of reasons, then select Missing parts or pieces.

Your seller will not be involved because this will be sent on to the GSP to resolve.

You have nothing to return so opening a return case is incorrect advice.

Thank you all for the support.

I am not sure that "missing parts" is the correct form.

If I could only get hold of a local tracking number, maybe I will be able to make my own inquiries.

The marking as "delivered" is a problem I can't figure out.

You say there are eBay representatives here in the forum?

Can I contact them?

I have contacted eBay about the missing item. Trying to get a tracking number.

The neighborhood postman is a friendly guy that could help - should I have a tracking number.

But, since my item is marked a received, eBay wants me to file a report with the local police!

Provide a report number from a police officer, for this small collector's item.

I have to prove I didn't receive the item.

I guess the system won.

It's only 39.75 GBP, but the item was unique and beautiful.

Only hope that it would pop-up and find its way.

Thank you for reading and commenting.

One would think so, but I’ve had two INR’s with GSP - for some reason, eBay asks me for proof of delivery, even though my responsibility stops after successful delivery to the export center.

That is what they usually require when an item shows delivered but the buyer says it wasn't.  If you provide evidence you did that they'll refund.

I give up.

There is a saying in Hebrew, you can't prove you don't have a sister.

We have a 14 day COVID lockdown, and I can just imagine the face of the police officer when I come to report a missing antique dead sea souvenir. The loss is not worth the humiliation.

Oh, we're all in some kind of COVID-19 lockdown in one way or another, that doesn't mean people get to steal things off other people's property. It might be something you can do over the phone and you wouldn't even have to go up to the police station. Regardless, it could solve your problem and get you your money back or even the item itself - it shouldn't be any more humiliating than asking about it on here. If you act embarrassed when reporting it, then it probably will be humiliating, but if you hold your head high and go at it with an "it's the principle of the thing" type of attitude, it's likely you'll be treated with respect. Think of it this way - today it's $40, but if it was stolen and you let the bandit get away with it, you become an easy target and tomorrow it might be something worth $500.

Thank you for your support popblox 🙂

I will see if there is something that can be done.

You are right about the "principle of the thing".

Although, I hoped for a more simple solution, like recieving the local tracking number from eBay.

Will post here if something changes.

Stay safe.

Final update,

Some things are not meant to happen.

Two weeks ago I managed to get from eBay the name of one of the shipping companies they used, with the relevant tracking number. I tried contacting them all this time with no success.

But... today I got a text message, and a courier showed at my doorstep with the package.

When they marked the item as delivered to me ,turns out it was handed to an unknown courier company.

I was very happy, until I found out that the fragile item wasn't properly packed, and a part of it was shattered.

Good thing I already gave up 🙂

Seems that eBay always involves the seller.  I’ve had two GSP INR’s sent to me (the seller) to provide  tracking info, even though tracking is in the system, and shows delivered to Erlanger.  I have one right now - funds on hold, even though eBay should know that I’m off the hook.

I don't know if the UK GSP is any different from the U.S. one, but the U.S. one offers insurance for items that get damaged (select 'arrived damaged' for the return reason) on the international leg of shipping.  A while back, I had a buyer receive a book with a couple new dents in the bottom of the front cover and the GSP refunded him all of his money and let him keep it.
