I sold an item to a buyer and shipped to address that came up when buying shipping through eBay. The tracking eventually showed the item as being "undeliverable" because "the address may be incorrect, incomplete, or illegible". I contacted the buyer, and sure enough, the address was missing info. Since the tracking ended there, I can only assume that it's on it's way back to me. However, I haven't received it yet. I have been communicating with the buyer to let them know what was happening and figure out what to do. Then they opened an INR case against me. eBay closed the case in my favor. My questions are: Do I wait longer to see if the package is returned to me or delivered to them before refunding? Can I refund only the item price and not the shipping because they gave the wrong address? Do I refund through eBay or PayPal? There's a button on eBay where I can refund but I can't tell if I will be able to deduct the shipping costs from the amount.
**Also, I shipped the item Priority 2-day mail even though the listing was for standard 2-9 day shipping because it cost me the same amount. I don't know if that makes a difference with estimated delivery dates/timelines for eBay cases since I actually shipped higher than required and technically I would have more time to get it there based on the listing. It's been 6 business days since I shipped it.
