I recently purchased a pair of sneakers. The cost was $250 + $20 shipping and with tax the total was just under $295. It was shipped through USPS sand I was tracking it through my informed delivery account. On Wednesday I got a notification it was delivered shortly after noon. I was home so I checked immediately and there was no package. I checked my ring camera for anything throughout the day and no one ever came up my driveway or on to my porch. I contacted the post office immediately and got a response saying they would check into it and get back to me. I asked around to my neighbors and no one said they had it. Today on Saturday I got a call back from them and they told me that the carrier did indeed leave it at another address and not my own. She told me to give them a few days, that they were going to try to get the package back even though I’m quite sure that isn’t going to happen. She looked up to see if there was any extra insurance to cover over the $100 free insurance with a priority package and of course none was purchased. I did reach out to the seller on Thursday to tell them what was going on and to see if they could possibly check with the post office too but he just told me to call eBay. Does anyone have any advice on where I should go with this from here?

Once the item is marked "delivered", the seller has no more obligations, this is now between you and your local postal store.

It was shipped through USPS sand I was tracking it through my informed delivery account. On Wednesday I got a notification it was delivered shortly after noon. I was home so I checked immediately and there was no package.
The reason @snkrhead1010 why that worked is
- when it was purchased, the actual shipping label had your address
- so misinformed delivery latched on to that label as it had your address
- but your seller altered the address on the label before it was mailed
- then a human read that altered label to deliver it to that address.
It won't work to skip eBay and file a Delivered To Wrong Address dispute with PayPal because the seller will be able to present the original, unaltered shipping label showing the correct address.
Instead you will have to stay on eBay, file eiither a "Doesn't Match Description" or a "Missing Parts or Pieces" return request, and upload a photo of the altered label that you will somehow get from the post office. Then if you actually get a return label, use the label to return the photo to get your refund.
Otherwise file a chargeback with your card issuer, and provide that photo or get on a 3-way call with your issuer and your post office, to get your refund.

Sounds like the fake tracking number scam. In that case it calls for an item not as described case to be filed. Call the shipper and see if that tracking number was to your address. If they say no, it 's the scam.
Don't get mad, make the scammer sad, with a SNAD.

If USPS asks for the package back, then it is very possible that the recipient will give it to them. If they do get it, then give it to you and it is the item you ordered then maybe it was a mistake with the address. However, there is a well-known scam where an item of insignificant value will be sent to a random address within your same zip code. The tracking number is entered into your order details. eBay sees it as an item delivered and then it becomes difficult to get your money back, but not impossible.
If it is an actual scam there are some things you can do.

IF this was intentionally directed to another address by the seller, it is unlikely that sneakers were even sent. Did the post office mention if this was a package or an envelope?

I believe the seller is legit and did send the package to my address. They do have good feedback for selling other sneakers. I honestly believe the post office delivered it to the wrong address on my street. On my ring I could see the mail truck at the box across the street about 4 minutes after the package said it was delivered. I did go down the street asking and was told no by everyone, so I don’t know if they would be willing to give the package back to the mailman when asked. I guess at this point I’m out the money and shoes.

Is your post office able to tell you the address your package was sent to? That’s basically the GPS location of the delivery scan, right? Being that it’s your package and the postage label does say your address, the post office should be able to tell you that info right?
Anyway, worst case scenario is that you let it play out and just wait a few days like your PO says. There are in fact many honest people out there and I’ve heard many cases of packages being returned and unopened to the PO because of misdelivery. I myself have sent many packages back to the PO because of this. Good luck.
