My last post seemed all doom and gloom, sorry about that - been off my meds for awhile. These repeated "non-scans" don't absolutely mean your package fell off the face of the earth. Who knows, maybe it will get a scan at a regional distribution center tomorrow or maybe its just sitting in a truck somewhere quietly waiting to be released from its unjustly confinement. Just judging from past experience...its not the best thing in the world to see. Also the USPS isn't THAT bad...just problematic for me lately. There, that seems a little less dark.

Yep those are not real scans. Been seeing this a lot lately. I currently have a package that I am going to have to refund for because USPS has no idea where it is. My package recieved this same type of scan with same exact time of day for 3 days in a row 10/27, 10/28, and 10/29 then vanished into thin air. My local post office, USPS website's "Find Missing Mail", and a call to USPS Consumer Affairs were of no help. Going to have to refund on Monday since INR case has been opened. As far as I am concerned, getting multiple In Transit or On Its Way To scans for 3 days in a row is the kiss of death from the USPS as they have no idea where your package is or if it will ever reappear. I've sent out over 2000 packages via the USPS over the years and never had a problem - lately nothing but problems. USPS has gone to carp.

What it really means is that the truck hasn't arrived yet at the next USPS sorting facility or that the truck hasn't been unloaded because other trucks have arrived and must be emptied first. Sort of like a plane in a holding pattern, waiting for a runway or gate to become available.

I honestly hate this new system of tracking. The "IN TRANSIT TO DESTINATION" scans give me a complete headache. And how they just time-stamp them way ahead in the future too (it's happened before). I heard that after three times it'll stop, unless it finally gets scanned at another sorting facility. I prefer the older system of tracking much better.
I also will get duplicates of "ARRIVE AT X FACILITY." I'm not sure if it's just my local sorting facility that is doing that, but it's just annoying and weird. I once contacted my PO about a delayed package, and looking at the tracking the lady had told me she found it REALLY strange that it started doing that.
Hopefully OP got their package and all is well.

This has happened to me three times in the span of a month. Twice just before Christmas and once after the New Year. I'm so annoyed with USPS. Everytime I fill out a claim, I get nothing back. When I try to call USPS, they never answer the phone. It's one of the most frustrating and infuriating things I've ever had to deal with.

This has been happening to me, inbound and outbound packages. One such package suddenly appeared 6 weeks later, after getting the "in transit" scans for 3 days, and then falling off the face of the earth for 6 weeks. It then suddenly appeared at a regional facility, and was at the customers house the next day. Thanks USPS. You guys rock. I have had 2 more like this recently, both turned up a week and a 1/2 later. I have 2 inbound currently stuck, and 3 last week that my carrier scanned as delivered when accepted, with NO updated tracking after. Beware of this too. The new tracking system is God awful, 5 steps backwards, and somehow priority mail 2-3 days can now take literally 7 weeks. I am seriously considering getting my UPS account back. Yeah, it's that bad.
