Issues with combined shipping & a customer

I'm a bit confused as to how combined shipping works exactly. I have a customer. He paid about $5 for shipping an item. After he had paid for the first item he sent me offers on 2 other items which I accepted. A few days go by and I am waiting for him to pay for them so I can do combined shipping. Once he pays for them I do combined shipping. The total for all 3 items was roughly $5 to ship them. However he paid $15 for them. He is telling me that I need to refund how the extra $10 (yes, I'm aware this is incorrect). I'm trying to explain to him exactly how combined shipping works with the shipping fees and how it won't charge him for all 3 items even though it shows as having charged him initially for it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had it before where Ebay wouldn't allow me to do combined shipping on items so I ended up refunding the excess to the buyer.

@redsamurai77   You can ONLY combine items for shipment from the same customer if they are completely paid for.  You can ONLY refund items that are paid for.

If all three items are paid for go to one of them and click the Print label link on the left.

The next page is the label flow BUT  do NOT pay for the label here ... go to the upper right and locate the "Print labels in bulk" link and click that.

The next page is where you can Combine the Buyers 3 items then adjust the shipping weight and dimensions and pay for the label ... the tracking number will upload to ALL 3 items for you automatically.

Next, go back to your Orders and find the items ... sometimes eBay puts them under one place and at others times they will be spread out ... you can either Refund on each purchase or just pick one and issue the refund on that one.  The Buyer will see the refund on their account.

Re: Issues with combined shipping & a customer

Your post is a bit confusing, but short answer (to me) is... it sounds like you owe the buyer a $10 refund, no? 🤔

So if I do combined shipping and they paid $15 when the total was $5 Ebay doesn't give them the $10 back?

Re: Issues with combined shipping & a customer

its not free to add more items to the same package. this makes the package heavier which costs more postage

@op just send invoice for the second order and tell them if they dont pay, you will cancel for reason "buyer didnt pay". the time to negotiate shipping discounts is before ordering, not after. this is like the scam where buyers ask for a partial refund or else they'll return the item

No, you owe them the $10. eBay isn't giving anything back as it seems you didn't have combined shipping set up or not correctly at least.

The buyer DID pay shipping....did you even read the post?? They paid $5 for each item shipping...for $15 total. The seller is saying they can ship it for only $5.....so they owe $10 to this buyer

@redsamurai77   No, eBay does nothing, YOU have to Refund the Buyer their money as mentioned in a previous post.

Re: Issues with combined shipping & a customer

Thanks. Apparently I was misinformed on this part. I'd always assumed Ebay would be set up to do things automatically.
