Issue with buyer- please help!

Someone please help as I can’t get a live person from EBay. I sold an item that the buyer says isnt working correctly and needs a new battery. I offered for her to return it for a full refund . She asked if I’d do a partial refund and let her keep the item and she’d purchase a new battery. The item was purchased for $59.95 plus shipping. She talked me into a $45 refund, so I basically made next to nothing after fees. Now she’s messaging me saying I charged her too much shipping so I’m assuming she wants more of a refund - at this point I just want her to return the item because she’s going to leave me bad feedback anyway and is unreasonable in my opinion. I’m afraid since I can’t get a live person on the phone that she’s going to try to get a full refund even though I already refunded her $45 via PayPal (from the item purchase) - not friends and family. What should I do?

I have been selling on EBay since 1999 and have 100% positive feedback.

@iluvltm

Since you've already issued the refund, my best guess is to convince you buyer that the generous amount of your refund is fair... after all, she talked you into it.

That's all I got. Sorry this happened to you.

Re: Issue with buyer- please help!

i would call ebay ( you can) and talk to someone in the 'trust and safety' division.   by the way did this person open a case, or did you just make a refund? It sounds like extortion to me. you already made a deal with her and kept your end of the deal. now she wants something else. when you talk to  ebay ask about FB removal too. and block her if you havent already.

ebay will call you back at this time. it's actually better, no waiting on hold. her is the link that ebay provides to get a call back-

https://www.ebay.com/SELLERHELP you have to do some scrolling to find the need help contact us link at the bottom of one of the pages.

good luck!

also if you dont get a helpful EB rep the first time, call again. and take notes.

Re: Issue with buyer- please help!

Had a similar situation where the buyer said the item was broken so I issued a refund. The buyer then described the issue with the item and I replied that the item wasn’t broken. Just needed an adjustment. The buyer now doesn’t want to reply to my msgs and has the item and the refund. Called eBay and they said they couldn’t do anything. I can’t even place negative feedback for a dishonest person.  I expect people to do the right thing but I guess even eBay doesn’t believe in that.

Hello!  Unfortunately there are buttheads out there... you’ve been much more than generous... much more than I in a similar situation.  Like others have said, just quit the dithering back and forth.  Return the item or not... no more monetary concessions.  You’re running out of fear of a bad feedback... let them if they must.  I’ve had great experiences with EBay removing undeserved negative feedback.  Your situation sounds like an open and shut case of “buyer agitatimous maximus”.  Time to pull their plug...

Alas!  Your mistake was issuing a refund before finding out the actual problem.  Why would you not at least ask the buyer what the issue was before giving them a refund?  Personally, I wouldn't have refunded without a return anyway.
