Is there an external website to search usernames and leave negative feedback?

Just processed two returns. One the buyer broke the item and claimed that it happened during shipping; I won't describe part of the item that was broken, but it's impossible that it happened during shipping. The second, the buyer stole parts from the item and returned it. Now I sold a $700 camera to a user with (17) feedback and I think I have to just cancel the order because we can't even leave negative feedback in instances like this to know if we should proceed with a sale. We really aren't protected whatsoever. If the site to leave negative feedback for buyers doesn't exist, someone really should make it... Obviously eBay doesn't want us canceling sales to buyers with negative feedback.

2008, to be exact.  As is the case with many policy changes on eBay, a few rotten sellers ruined it for everyone.  There were some sellers who were leaving vindictive feedback for buyers who were being truthful in their negative feedback, so buyers were getting understandably nervous about leaving truthful feedback lest a seller turn around and leave them a nasty negative out of spite.

Re: Is there an external website to search usernames and leave negative feedback?

The value in buyer feedback is now in seeing what a buyer left for sellers , especially when considering an offer received. I always check the feedback left by a buyer for sellers and if there are too many negatives or a pattern of them saying that the seller was good and worked with them, I consider very carefully whether to sell to them. In addition, I do not like buyers with private feedback but will sell to them sometimes. Those are a gut thing based on over 15 years selling here. As far as leaving feedback for buyers, I don't unless they request it. Once Ebay stopped allowing anything buy positive feedback for buyers it became worthless so I don't leave it. If Ebay was to implement a fairer feedback notification system to help sellers, I would consider leaving feedback again.

Here is an example of something Ebay could do to help sellers at least with considering offers. If a buyer has returned items, those could be noted with an orange doughnut. It would not assign why the item was returned or place responsibility for the return, but it would enable sellers to see if there was an excessive pattern of returns which could help sellers in making a decision as to whether to accept an offer. It might also help to reduce nuisance returns as buyers would realize that the number of returns that they have are visible to sellers.

That would be sort of like how we can see how many bid retractions someone has???
