Is it possible to ship without a tracking number

I sold something today that weighs 0.4 ouces, less than 1 ounce.

To use the eBay shipping it will cost me almost $3.

Can I use a regular postage stamp, but then the item will not be trackable.

Yes, you aren't required to use tracking. 

Just be prepared for the risks-no seller protection if the buyer files an item not received case or an unauthorized use chargeback. But for a low value sale, I wouldn't worry about that

Be careful there, if the item is more than 1/4 inch thick in the envelope they may collect postage from your buyer. I made that mistake once not fun
