I’m not really sure what’s going on with my package. It got to San Diego yesterday a little before 1am and then showed that it departed San Diego at the same time. Tracking didn’t update until 6pm when it showed it had departed AGAIN. I’m in Las Vegas. It’s been nearly 12 hours and it hasn’t even made it here. How does mail move overnight? Is it possible it’s here but hasn’t been taken off the truck yet? I’m really worried that it was mis-scanned a 2nd time and is STILL sitting in San Diego. Could anyone provide any insight? USPS originally said the package would be delivered Thursday, then it said Friday. Now there’s no estimated delivery date at all. I was supposed to have this package by today, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’ve already contacted the seller, but haven’t heard back yet.

You posted this comment early in the morning November 17, 2018.
When your package reaches Las Vegas, it will have to be unloaded, processed, sorted, scanned, separated, etc., before it goes out for delivery.
I'm not sure why you'd contact the seller when you can clearly see the package moving through the USPS system. How could the seller help you?

The tracking has changed in the last 24 hours. It showed departed around 1am yesterday morning, but after 18 hours of no updates, it was rescanned at 6pm and changed to show it departed at that time. The original departure scan at 1am was removed. I’m justvtrying to figure out why.
I’ve purchased thousands of things online through the years and most have processed through California to get to me in Nevada. They always arrive within about 6 hours of leaving California, and my post office processes them by 5 am and they are then marked as out for delivery by 8am. So this movement is quite slow.

That is an unrealistic expectation. A package cannot arrive in 6 hours coming from CA. This time of year, there is a lot more packages traveling through the Postal system. I have bought items from Nevada and most have taken 3 days to arrive in CA. It's sounds as though you are an impatient person.

I mean, you’re not wrong. I’m definitely a bit more on the impatient side. I’ve just never had a package take so long to move between California to Nevada before or take so long between tracking updates when the package was originating from another state.

Packages entrusted into the care and custody of USPS sometimes move quickly and at other times will move Very, very, slowly.
Nothing that you will be able to do to help a package move along faster to your destination.
Increased postage rates will go into effect January.

Don't worry about it. This time of the year, the USPS hires a lot of extra inexperienced people and they mess everything up. About a week ago, I had an item that just sat in Chicago, for two days. Then the next day it poped up as Out For Delivery for me here in Oregon. But it didn't get delivered. Instead at the end of the day it was listed as delayed, but don't worry it's on the way. Then the item apeared in Portland, and just sat there for another two days. Then it apeared at another town on the wrong side of the state, where it clearly should not have been. Then it was scanned at still another town close to me, but not the right place, it was sent back to the main distribution facility, and on the third attempt, it finally got to me. By that time it was one full week past the estimated delivery time.

I have had packages do very strange things. Some times it takes two day to get from Minneapolis to Bismarck, close to where I live. And that is after it has taken it three days to get to Minneapolis from Maryland, etc. I could drive to Minnepolis, pick up the package, stay overnite and still get home at least 12 to fifteen hours before the item would have gotten to Bismarck.
It is a seven hour drive from my home to Minneapolis.
It will get there eventually. Fires, holidays, and the normal actions of the shipping services cannot be predicted.
COYOTES RULE!!!

Just relax sometimes USPS works in mysterious ways. Recently i had a shipment that was shipped from Atlanta GA, it move to Kansas City, Mo (close to the buyers town), then move to two different location in Michigan (Allen Park (just south of Detroit), then to a Detroit facility, then back to Kansas City, Mo., then Out for deliver. Go figure. But in the end the buyer received their item two days prior to eBays last Estimated Delivery date. Soem of those times you see are often computer generated which means the are based on the average time a package goes in & out of a facility, then later updated to a real scan time - don't ask me why but my neigher who works for USPS for 20 years told me that
You were given an estiamted delivery for your purchase that is the date you need to go by - not how far a drive you it is from the seller ( the shipper). See if I take my purchase to our PO at 8:30 AM (that's when they open), it will stay in that facility until abou 3 PM, the nit moves to a local USPS sort facility, the nit moves to a major facility in Atlanta - it goes thru another sorting process and is marshalled to the next plane head towards the city & state teh buyer is or may take several stops in between.
Just Chill! Have a big tall cool one or a big fat one (if you are in a state where it is legal):smileyhappy:
