Is it me? Is priority mail taking longer to deliver

I just checked an order.

Mailed on August 4 and it's still "in transit".

I would expect delivery 2-3 days, not 4 days and more.

For many people who have the wrong PO, every shipment is taking longer to deliver.

My PO is no longer sending packages to the nearest routing center the same day they are received. Adds a day.

I noticed that lag with some of mine too. It's now more like 4-6 for priority to some parts of the country.

UPS used to fly the post offices packages instead of USPS planes.      They quit the contract.   Now the post office has to ship on commercial flights or use trucks.      It is adding on time.   

The post office no longer    ships packages after noon on Fridays in rural areas.         They have fewer sorting and distribution centers.

All these little things add up.

As someone who generally offers free shipping, it no longer makes sense to "upgrade" to priority. It's not worth the extra cost IMO. Ground advantage is fine.

It used to be faster but now it's no better than ground advantage.  You do get free boxes with it but that's about it.

I shipped from San Francisco to Plano, Illinois a week ago priority and it got there early...buyer was surprised and very happy and left me these long happy feedbacks...19 feedbacks.

So it might be out-going shipping and not in-coming shipping.
