We have a scanner in the lobby of our branch where you can scan your packages before putting them in the drop box. But if you hand your packages to your mail carrier you can ask him or her to scan them right there and then. That’s what I’m going to do going forward so that at least the packages’ tracking shows that the postal service has possession of them. Even though post offices are supposed to scan them when they come in, it’s now obvious to me that many branches are not doing it consistently.
