So, recently I just bought two items. One was delivered successfully to my address, the other did not because it was labeled as an 'invalid address' and was returned. I got a refund for it thank goodness. What I'm trying to figure out is, why have I not had any issues with my address, I had an eBay item successfully delivered the same day the "invalid" package was supposed to arrive? eBay has my address stored and I've always had successful deliveries. I'm worried about future purchases now.

This sounds like some kind of sorting error at your post office or somewhere upstream from there, not a problem with eBay. I can recall at least two instances in the past where a package I shipped out normally came back as undeliverable, despite the buyer in each case swearing up and down that the address was correct (and Googling the buyer did show that address for him on several other sites). My post office agreed each time to put the packages through again at no charge, and both arrived successfully on the second attempt.
If tracking shows that the problem package made it into the mailstream but got turned around further down the line, then I would ask the seller to get his post office to ship it again. Give him a clear message to print out, stating that your address is indeed [your address here], as shown on the label, and see if they'll ship it again.

Not all sellers use ebay or Paypal to print out their labels.
My printer died last week, so I had to hand write the shipping address and pay full retail price for the shipment. If your seller hand wrote the address, s/he could have made an error or be illegible. If the label was printed, the address could have been smudged.

I am not sure if this will help but I encounter this sending packages on Stamps.com alot but yet to find it happen on Ebay labels.
On Stamps.com I regularly get what to me seems like bizarre changes of address when I download and import my daily orders. It is an automated thing where their system claims that the address provided by Ebay is undeliverable and I have to choose a different address format. I resisted for a long time but now I just "accept" their suggestion and for years now I have never had a package returned as undeliverable after accepting their suggestions so I no longer even blink when it happens. I would estimate it happens on maybe 5% of the addresses.
My suggestion would be to try entering your address on Stamps.com and see if they want to change it. I am assuming they change it for a reason associated with the Postal System.
