I recently purchased an international label from eBay for a customer in UK, but when I printed the label, the shipping address was a P.O. Box in Illinois. I thought this might be some kind of global mail forwarding service, but since shipping internationally is so expensive, I decided to check with an eBay representative just in case.
Well, the representative seemed just as perplexed as I was, so she voided the label and suggested I reprint it and change the address to the correct one from the UK.
I started the steps to purchase a new label, but I see no way of altering the address. It just lets me verify the weight and value of the items in the package. The only way to see the address on the label is to purchase it, and I'm hesitant to do that since the eBay agent wasn't 100% sure if I would be reimbursed for the label that was voided.
Needless to say, I don't want to be playing too fast and loose with the "purchase label" button on these international shipments, so I really don't know what to do at this point. Has anyone experienced this before?

Hey @aztexsales. This is how eBay International Standard Delivery works. Your package goes to a consolidation center within the US where it gets an international label and sent on to the buyer. You can read more about EISD here.
If you wish to ship direct then you would need to use a different service, like USPS First Class Package International.

It sounds like you have an Ebay International Standard Shipping shipment. Is that what it says on your shipping form?
First of all - you ship to the address you receive with the payment. Period. That is the rule regardless of what kind of shipping it is. I dont know what Customer service was thinking and I did not think they were able to void your label but whatever.
The way this works is that your Ebay standard shipping goes to a consolidation center in the US. Then it is given to DHL. DHL takes over the international shipment to the buyer address. So as long as you are shipping to the address that you got with the payment - which is the one that appears on your label when you print it - you will be fine.

Thanks for taking the time to reply since I’m finding this entire situation pretty strange (I’ve shipped internationally before and never had this issue).
I think my synopsis of the situation wasn’t very clear since the main issue that causing me concern has to do with the fact that the address that’s listed on the Order Details page (the buyer’s correct address) doesn’t match the address that is being printed on the label when I hit the “purchase label” button. Instead, I get some P.O. Box in Illinois. Is this a new international shipping method that eBay has started? Are they using some sort of shipping middle man for international shipping as a way to save money? Or is this some weird glitch that occurred due to all their recent changes to the selling format and such?
I’d appreciate any light that anyone could shed on this situation, and I thank you again for your help.

Did you contact the buyer and ask if they wanted it sent to that PO Box address that was printed on the label?
Foreign buyers have different ways of getting the items to their location. That PO Box could have been someone they know that will forward the item to them at a later date.
If you want to make sure the shipping label was canceled go to your manage Shipping Labels page. It should show if a cancel request has been submitted.

I looked thru some of my eBay Standard International Shipping and they are sent to Redondo Beach California and the ones for the eBay Global Shipping Program are sent to Kentucky.
I did find a shipper in Illinois that uses PO Box 7961 .

Your recent sold listings do show that you will be using eBay international standard delivery so that is why the address showing is in the US. As others mentioned the package first goes to a depot in the US and gets forwarded from there.

Which town would that be? If its Elk Grove Village or Bensenville or Des Plaines or Franklin Park those are all feeders into the freight operations at OHare. So its logical that one of the DHL outbound centers would be there and they are handling the Ebay Standard Shipments to various countries. In my selling account I had one go through there to the UK. But I had another one go to Australia and that went out via California so it can vary.

You just print out the label which will be a PO Box in Illinois. Once they receive it they will scan and put the buyers international address on the new shipping label. You can print out a order receipt and see where the buyer paid for the international shipping (Which is a decent amount). Ebay has made this new international shipping very easy and painless for sellers.
