International Buyer Scam "NEW SCAM" Ebay Global

Hello,

Just wanted to share a new ( to me ) international buyer scam that just happened to me, so you guys aware of this.

Buyer places an order for a T-shirt. I ship it through Ebay Global Shipping Program. Item successfully arrives and shortly after buyer opens a claim saying that the T-shirt is not authentic! Yes....its a no brand graphic print T-shirt....believe it or not , Not authentic.

Obviously, they knew that I will not be able to provide a return shipping label since its a different country. By now I am sure you already know what happens next.

Because the reason was that its "fake" - they sided with the customer. There will be no investigation done, just take my words. Ebay does not care that it was a no brand simple t-shirt, that can't possibly be fake.

Its the PERFECT scam! More i think about it ..it actually can not even be better!

At this point I am done with international buyers. No more for me. Way too risky. This was a very cheap wake up call.

That happens a lot, although mainly on higher priced items. I too don't sell to or buy from foreign countries. Not worth the risk.

I sold a lot internationally with Ebay over the years and now consider myself literally being lucky that this case is the only one I have. But, its a wake up call for sure! No more. I moved a lot of my high dollar clothing and accessories over to poshmark,  no regrets! They will back you up in fact they did for me. No longer I sell anything expansive on Ebay, its been a few years now. The risk is just way too high.

It's sad but ebay has become well known for it's free if you click SNAD.  Your lucky they choose a low value item. Most scammers won't waste that on low priced items.

Is this one of the Virgil Abloh Impressionism tshirts?   If it isn't a licensed tshirt from that designer, it isn't an authentic Virgil Abloh shirt.   By using their name in the title and 'unbranded' in item specifics, you are misleading all buyers and probably breaking some copyright/trademark laws. Unless I'm misreading something, it doesn't sound like a buyer scam.

btw...you can send money via PP to a buyer so that they can purchase a label to return the item.

To the last statement of yours about sending money to the international buyer via paypal...I've done that once, you know what happened? They kept the money and the purchase. That exists too.

To the misleading part - they knew what they were buying, there is a conversation on record. They saw a great opportunity to get a freebee way ahead.

Re: International Buyer Scam "NEW SCAM" Ebay Global

According to customer service you are supposed to send it on paypal as goods and services so you can file a claim if they never buy the label-but yes I totally agree with you-I enjoyed selling internationally with the program -I sell mainly books to collectors-I sold one and buyer asked before purchasing if there was wear to the spine as it was listed as acceptable-wanted to know if there were any issues with the binding-I had a better book(this book is hard to find) so I changed the picture to the better book but listing still had it as acceptable-receives the item and says it not as described-I ask customer service how can an acceptable item not be as described -no logical answer of course-apparently he is saying that when he opens the book to a few pages he can see the binding-this was a paperback book over 30 years old-and in very good condition. All you get from customer service are really no answers at all-I offered to send money for a return label(again, per customer service) and he said he has anxiety so can't go to post office/offered to send money for return label -said I was trying to make him pay for return. So I have changed all listings away from international. As someone noted on another forum they have figured out the system for international-not as described= free item-and yes it is usually something harder to find .
