For the Last 18 Years, Never Lost A Package with USPS. Delayed, but Never Lost. Just a Quick Note to Warn Sellers, Always have A Tracking # with the Order, It May Cost More to Ship, But Its Worth It.
Buyer Just Has to Say 'They Never Recieved It' And Your Out the Cost of Item and Shipping (if Applies).

Yes, that's how it works. If you can't prove delivery, you cannot win an item not received claim.
We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did. - Thomas Sowell

Not really sure why you bothred to post this...pretty standard practice with ebay. No tracking number = not delivered. That's not just with ebay, but using any sort of parcel carrier to ship anything to anybody for any reason.
If you are a power seller then you are required to upload tracking within a certain amount of time for every single package. It's not possible to be a powerseller and not use tracking.
Percentage wise, USPS doesn't lose a lot of packages, but in reality, they lose thousands and thousand of them every month.

I often sell small, low value items.
They easily fit in a #10 envelope and even with stiffening they rarely exceed 2 ozs.
This keeps the S&H low.
Thus I use USPS First Class Letter Rate.
As far as I know you cannot get tracking for this sort of thing.
Yes, that opens me to an INR claim but the categories I sell in are populated by VERY honest buyers.
Never had an INR from a buyer.

For purchases over a certein amount, tracking is a must. But for low cost (under $10) items, 99.5% of my buyers receive their stamped mail just fine. When I receive nothing but a message that says "I didn't get", I confirm their shipping address and send them a picture of all the stamped mailpieces that went out on the day their items shipped (other buyers addresses are blocked out). This is so that: a) I know that I didn't forget to mail something (it happened before) AND d b) to make sure the address matches the one on the payment transaction. More often than not, I never hear back from the buyer. Makes me wonder if they had the wrong address to begin with.

Most experienced sellers should already know that. However, newbie sellers should take note and include a tracking number.

If you don't use tracking, there are alway buyers around ready to take advantage of you. It's been that way for a while now.

LOL! EVERY section of ebay is full of crooks, liars, idiots, and theives.
It's probably not worth paying for tracking on small items, then again, I don't consider anything under $20 worth selling in the first place...

IMO, a more helpful note to sellers would be to read the terms of use of any website you intend to risk money on. On eBay at the very least read both the Money Back Guarantee and the Seller Protection Policy. Both give details on what is required for protection when selling and shipping items.
A seller who knows the seller protection requirements can then make their own informed decision on whether or not to mail with tracking.

True, but fewer in my selling categories.
Some other sellers of inexpensive items charge a hefty fee to mail them.
It's not unusual that the S&H is HIGHER than the item.
Those types rarely get a bid (or BIN) from me.
