INR - UPS Item in Transit (Delayed) to Harvey Affected Area of Texas

Hello Everyone,

My buyer purchased a lamp on August 25th (a Friday night), I printed the shipping label right away with a Monday shipping date, and the package departed CA on Monday the 28th. The buyer and I have been in contact about the item and I understand that he is worried about the item's security so I let him know that shipment was being delayed due to the storm. In addition to Harvey, we also had Labor day during this time which extended the shipping a bit as well. I always upload tracking, but I informed him that he could sign up to receive email or text updates from UPS as well.

This morning I hop on eBay to find a nice little INR waiting for me and I immediately go into reaction mode. I uploaded the shipping again with a note about the delays, I call eBay customer service and bring to their attention the tracking and the area of delivery, I speak to a UPS CS agent, and then I go to the UPS site and sign him up for email updates as well. Of course I also send him a message from the case page letting him know that I have signed him up so that he will know where it is at all times as well.

The problem is that after reading through the boards, I am worried that I should not have uploaded tracking or called eBay CS so quickly. Any thoughts on the situation?

Cheers,

     Chavie

P.S. I have also included a quick bit about the UPS convo, the tracking # and item id, and photos of eBay and UPS tracking.

Tracking #:1ZKJ6T960300010018

Item ID: 132274170591

Daniel at UPS states:

  • Sept. 1st arrived Fort Worth, Texas and was held due to weather conditions
  • Sept. 5th arrived in the Sweetwater area of Houston, Texas (appx. 29 mins. away from its destination), and held due to impact of Hurricane Harvey.
  • UPS, quite predictably, is backlogged with packages and they are shipping them out on a first in; first out basis.

@chavondanf
What did ebay CS say?
They claim they will protect anyone impacted so did they extend the case?
You really need to call back ask them to extend the INR due to the hurricane, don't let it go and have the buyer have ebay step in and issue them the refund then later have the package arrive .
Try to get help with it now.

Don't understand why your buyer from Texas would do this if they can see it is there in Texas and when they can get it to them they will.

Thank you for the reply. Everything worked itself out. The buyer closed the case that night and the item was delivered the next day. I will still give eBay CS another call in the morning just to be sure everything is on the up and up.

As for why the buyer opened a case, he has been worried about the arrival almost from the beginning so I understand his anxiousness over it being lost, misplaced, or damaged during the delay.
