I recently purchased a coffee maker that the seller described as good working order, just has a small water leak at the bottom of the machine. When I got the machine, I tried to make a cup
of coffee and all the water leaked into the bottom tray and none of it came out of the nozzle. I told the seller I was going to need to return it for a refund and he said he doesn’t accept refunds. That I should open it up and see what’s wrong or take it to a repair shop because it worked before he shipped it.
I opened a return ticket because that’s what you have to do before eBay will “step in and help.” When I opened it, the reasons for return were:
I didn’t like it
It didn’t fit
I changed my mind
I found the item cheaper elsewhere
There was no option anywhere for me to choose that the item did not fit the description in the listing. So I chose the one where it didn’t fit. Technically it didn’t fit the description. Within the hour, the seller refused and the case was closed. I just spent an hour chatting with two different customer service representatives who kept telling me to contact the seller directly. The seller isn’t returning my messages I can only assume because he doesn’t want his broken coffee maker back. I went round and round with them and they said because I didn’t choose INAD, the case was closed and they couldn’t do anything. I told them I didn’t get that option and they basically told me I was lying because they said everyone gets that option I just chose the wrong one. I’m going to try to get a live person on the phone tomorrow, but from some of the posts I’ve seen on here, I’m worried. Am I our $400 because I chose the closest of four bad options?

For someone paying attention to details @pamelotta36 you weren't paying attention.
You should have clicked Show more to select an Item Not as Described reason.
Now file a chargeback with your card issuer, to punish the seller with a $20 chargeback settlement fine, plus pay all eBay and PayPal fees. Return shipping is still the seller's responsibility.

Well, shoot. I absolutely did not see a button that says show more. My bad, but it still seems a little underhanded. I will try your suggestion and see if it works. Fingers crossed.
