I think I'm being conned....

So I had someone buy a DS game from me and send me a message saying they wanted it shipped with tracking and without a packing slip the next day (I have 2 day handling as well). I messaged them and told them I would ship it in a first class envelope as per the auction description unless they wanted to pay a bit extra for tracking. They never even responded to that so I sent it in a first class envelope as the auction states.

10 days later I get a return request for item not arrived.

This seems so suspicious but I know ebay highly encourages tracking for this reason and I'm worried they will automatically side with the buyer. However, I explicitly stated in the auction what kind of shipping  they were getting and I've shipped these several times with no issues at all.

Help!

It really doesn't matter whether you have tracking or not. Ebay always sides with the buyer in disputes. As a seller, you cant win. Even if you show tracking as delivered, all they have to do is say it must have been stolen from their porch or mailbox and since you didn't have insurance too, you will lose. They have a buyer protection policy and a seller protection policy, but you cant  protect both in a dispute so they always side with the buyer. Even if for some super rare occurance, the seller wins, then the buyer will just cry to PayPal next. You'll never get lucky enough to win both disputes.

This is false news. Be responsible, dont spread fake news, outright lies or manure

That's a good way to look at it!

However I did explicitly say in the listing that if they wanted tracking, they would need to pay extra to get it. And when the buyer messaged me about their request, I replied with that indication and they NEVER got back to me. Maybe they were mad at me but they never ever ever directly messaged me after that initial shipping request and that rubs me the wrong way because they didn't try to work anything out with me. Maybe I should have just went ahead and shipped with tracking even though my listing said it didn't come w/ it but looking back I probably should have sent them the message, waited a day and then cancelled the whole thing because they didn't communicate with me.

Maybe they are getting back at me for shipping it w/o tracking and a day later than they wanted it to be shipped BUT they never tried to resolve anything with me personally.

I admire and respect people who try to work things out with me through messages or email. I will give those people more priority and benefit of the doubt. People who request things and then leave it and then open a case in Ebay w/o contacting me first THEN proceeding to not say ANYTHING else in the case - despite my apologies and pleas to wait a little longer/ check the address etc. THAT irks me like nothing else! So yeah, I'm a little jaded by that. 😉

You demand that the buyer pay for something that is your responsibility to pay for, and you expect them to work with you?

SMH...some sellers set themselves up for bad buyers...

This is exactly why eBay encourages you to use tracking.

Tracking is for your protection and now you know what happens when you don't use it.

Of course eBay will side with the buyer.......you didn't use the 1 layer of protection you have against INR.

Amazing! I have never lost an INR case when I provide eBay with the tracking.

Tracking protects you as the seller; you need to have proof of delivery to win this, and sadly, you don't.  Ebay will find for the buyer.
