Hundreds of FedEx Packages Found Dumped In Ravine

This is a tragedy, however, it's good to know that the packages just didn't go missing.

Last year a USPS postal carrier was caught dumping his entire truck load (Christmas time) into a ditch and then taking off.  2 neighbors had cameras.  He's doing time now. This is happening more and more.  Not re-assuring when you depend on these entities to do their job in order to help you do yours.

We had a local postal employee dump his deliveries into the dumpster behind the post office. Probably not the best choice as he was caught. lol

    May be a few surprised eBay buyers that have their packages show up xx days, weeks, months, years later. I guess when they say it has to be there overnight they were referring to the ravine??

The latest update on this Fedex debacle is that there are 450 people effected by this dumping in a ravine in Alabama and not all are in Alabama. Apparently the "former" driver dumped packages several times.

Seems hard to believe Fedex could not react sooner to 450 missing packages, and while we do not know the timeframes yet, there must have been mounting claims.

Hopefully some folks will be made whole although some packages were damaged and opened.

You have to look at this in perspective.  400-450 packages is indeed quite a few, but only a tiny fraction of the packages  any one carrier handles daily. Many more than that come up missing from loss, damage, and other causes, including employee theft.  Then of the millions of daily orders on Ebay this amount is more like a single mosquuito bite on one's entire body.

After having mulled over my previous example of perspective, a more realistic example of the volume represented  by the lost FedEx packages in relation to the total Ebay daily seller ships is more like one fan got bitten by a mosquito in the history of the SuperBowl while  attending a game.  There are still over 7 million USA sellers on Ebay!

They also found a second fedex dump site with more packages about 75 miles away from the first one.

Even at that, a tiny fraction of the packages handled daily from just Ebay sellers alone. USPS has reported just this week that thay have processed a total package volume of over 7 billion packages month to date, and it is still a week until Christmas.
