How would you handle this situation?

I bought a crochet handmade dog sweater. Sent the exact measurements to the seller. Told her my dog is a doxie mix, and is long like a doxie. I sent her these measurements

Neck = 10 (snug measurement)
Gerth = 16" (just behind the front legs - snug)
Length = 16" from mid neck to tail base.

She sent me the sweater (which was very nice) in these measurements
11 1/2" neck
18" Gerth
19" Long

I wrote her to say the sweater was to big. Asked if I could trade it for one of the sweaters she already has made in her ebay store. She said no she does not do exchanges. If I want another sweater I would need to pay for it. Refund would be given after this sweater was returned in new condition. Also I would lose the original shipping costs and there is a 15% restock fee. At $11 + $2.77 shipping, would not get much back.

I do not want to have to open a SNAD. She has 100% feedback. I am a seller and would like this seller to work with me. I took pictures of the sweater with a measuring tape and sent those to her asking for a full refund not long ago. I guess what I do will depend on her response.

The item is SNAD.  I don't understand your reluctance to file a SNAD claim, based on the evidence (measurements) and the seller's response to it.  If the seller responds appropriately to your case, she won't get any defect on her account, and you won't have to pay for return shipping.  You'll get your full refund, which IMHO is what you're entitled to.

Alternatively, depending on what the item is made of (cotton? acrylic?) just a wash in warm water and a trip through the dryer might shrink it to suit your pup.  It seems to be a little bit too big in every direction.

ETA:  Now that I've looked up the listing, I'm not so sure it's truly SNAD.  The listing description that I read said, " I add 2 extra inches for your pets comfort."

I'm a little confused.

Did she make a customized sweater for you, or did you purchase something that she advertised "in stock".

If she advertised a sweater with dimensions of X, Y, and Z and you received one with A, B, and C then you can return it as Item Not as Described ... it will not affect her 100% feedback rating unless you leave negative feedback.

And I saw some that were pre made with explicit measurements. The listings also say they will not shrink in the wash even with hot water and a hot dryer.

I suppose it depends on exactly the listing said.

If it was premade? The seller has pretty clear measurements in the listings I looked at- so bite the bullet and pay the restocking fee.

If it was custom made? And the measurements are that far apart from what you sent the seller? Then it's a clear cut SNAD.

 Neck  10 1/2   inches  / Chest  16 1/2 snug to  18" loose fit   inches and is  16    inches long / length is measured  from the bottom of the neck band to the bottom of the sweater/ chest is measured behind the front legs at the heart girth

you don't?  then why are you asking?... her feedback means something to you...if you feel she send a "not decsribed item" then you open a case... if you have to pay restocking fee..then you will..but you do what is right, what is the procedure. NOW it does seem that if you measured and she hand made it..the size would be tough to "custom" fit... so may your expectation were too close... but you have rights and a policy /procedure you have a right to...use it or don't --but it's YOUR choice...not a bunch of us who are only throwing an opinion anyways... which is this too!

Seems like she made it to your measurements with the roughly 2-inch ease that is mentioned in her listings, except that it's 3 inches longer than the given length, rather than 2 inches.  That's not a huge difference.

The meaurements of the garment are not supposed to match the dog's measurements.  In many of  her listings, she points out, " I add 2 extra inches for your pets comfort."

by adding the 2" made the sweater to big. I just heard from the seller and she has refunded me $11 (cost of the sweater). I will be returning the sweater to her, even though she did not ask me too. I will not be able to use it.

As far as length, she added 3 inches.

My dog walked out of the sweater. That is how big it was. All is resolved.
