I got my hands on a box full of sports magazines and never hsipped those. I figured, they cannot be shipped using media mail and if I want to print a shipping label through Ebay, I have to chose first class with delivery confirmation, where the envelope must be thicker than 1 inch. Magazines are not as thick, so I really don't have a clue how to ship those. If I use a normal flat envelope, I can't print the label though ebay and have to use stamps without delivery confirmation, right? Which is always risky. What are you guys using.? I saw sellers who use the media mail $3,49 option, but magazines are not allowed in media mail.

I have sold a lot of magazines through the years. I prefer to sell in bulk, and use a flat rate methold like Padded Envelope, or Priority Medium box. Many magazines fit perfectly in a square Priority Medium box, though the box will be heavy (I'll write HEAVY in marker and all four sides of box, and add a piece of cardboard to fill out the hollow on the bottom and top of box for more support.) If a particular magazine is expensive, then go ahead and list individually and pay the first class or priority mail. If you're are sufficiently skilled in packaging, cut stiff cardboard and place it on both sides of the magazine, then wrap it such that it feels like a book, it'll get by as Media Mail. MM packages are ussually only opened if the PO suspects it is not a book.

Why would you suggest trying to cheat the rules by doing that? There's enough of that without offering it up as a solution.

Or rigid. What I do with all my magazines [and my book that go Media mail], I cut cardboard and put it in the center of the book to stiffen it. Not just any piece of cardboard, it has to make it stiff and help prevent getting bent during shipment.
The cardboard will need to be about 8 1/2" wide and at least 5" in height. When cutting the cardboard, but sure you pay attention to which way the ribs in the cardboard run. It is strongest if the ribs run horizontal, the 8 1/2" direction.
